At the youth Congress meeting, Ijebu-igbo on Saturday, May 29, 2021, the congress of Ijebu Igbo Youths, President Comrade Adesanya said that he was invited by the Police and was told that a petition has been made against the Congress of ijebu-igbo youth leadership, claiming that they have planned to cause mayhem and that they should be arrested.Â
The arrest was stalled after Comrade Adesanya exonerated the youth, wrote statement and signed undertaking to be law abiding.
He briefed all sons and daughters present on Positions of things as regards Dangote 50 years natural exploration at ijebu-igbo which was signed by some elders of the city in 2016 on a 5years renewable term. Adesanya said the Congress found out that the term did not take cognisance of developmental project for the town, that even the youth were not considered in the first 5years agreement.Â
To correct this, the youth met with religious leaders and other stakeholders for review before a new one is penned. Having pushed for employment of ijebu-igbo, youth to be employed as drivers to avert further regular accident/ killings being witnessed as a result of reckless driving of virtually young hausa drivers in Dangote’s employment. Apart from seeking for driver’s job for the indigenes, the Congress through her President also ask for employment for young ijebu-igbo graduates
However, Comrade Adesanya informed that with consistent pressure, they were able to secure employment for about 16 indigenes as traffic Officers. The Congress leadership and other stakeholders present enjoined all the youths not to engage any Dangote driver who do not obey traffic rule in any fight but pick the number by their truck doors and report to any of the traffic Office of the company for effective action.
The President of the Congress informed all those present at the palace that the new agreement has been drafted; that the youth made just an amendment for the youth of the town to be permitted to issue ticket to all Dangote vehicle whenever passing within the metropolis of ijebu-igbo as being done in all places such is located. He however says as at that meeting, the draft has not been approved or ractified.
On the Matter of Orimolusi stool, which many youths were eager to hear on, Comrade Adesanya congratulated every ijebu-igbo sons and daughters, saying the latest Supreme court virtual judgement in May has finally pave way for possible Orimolusi installation in a short time.
Having directed that all aspiring Princes from Ojuromi royal family should go back and pick, he noted that the judgement emphasis on picking from the Male lineage of Ojuromi and except when non, female can then be picked. Dismissing the rumour in the ancient town that the judgement had favour a particular candidate and the candidate set for seclusion. He denied such as he spoke out the mind of the youths with an overwhelming shout of yes as the youth made the following demands from the leaders and kingmakers:
1. That the male lineage of Ojuromi present all available Princes publicly to the youth
2. That the selection MUST go by ifa consultation,
3. That the IFA Priest must take oath in the presence of all youths before the IFA selection of Princes,
4. That there should be No secrecy in nomination.
