On Sunday 8th September, 2019, memers of the Ijebu Muslim College Old Students Association (IMCOSA) held its pre-70th Anniversary fund-raising Luncheon in Lagos. The luncheon which was meant to raise funds for Infrastructural Development projects for the school was scheduled to kick-start activities to mark the 70th Anniversary of the College founded in 1950 by the Muslim Community in Ijebu Ode.
The College has produced eminent Nigerians making remarkable achievements all over the country in many spheres of human endeavors. And this was so evident when they all stormed the venue, Classique Events Centre situated at Oregun, Lagos. The luncheon enabled the Old Students unfold their plans for the anniversary scheduled for January 2020, while sets of awards were also presented to those who have been part of the school’s success story,
Different sets from the school were well represented and they all did well. They all donated extensively towards the growth of the school. Many sets contributed immensely and spear headed many projects of the school. Many have singlehanded renovated blocks and storey buildings in the school. Dr. Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, the Group Managing Director of First Bank Group was the chairman of the day, while an ex-student and prominent banker, Otunba Jimi Lawal, was supposed to be the Chief Launcher, but couldn’t make it. He was unavoidably absent but was well represented by his brother, who also made a substantial donation on his behalf.
The former Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), also an old student of the school, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, delivered the Pre-Anniversary Luncheon lecture on: ‘Alumni Associations, the present and future of education in South West Nigeria’.
Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion are; Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Alhaji Abdurazaq Isa, Hon. Kolapo K. Oshunsanya, Mr. Kadyode Fetuga, Otunba Gbenga Adesoye, Ambassador Lekan Adebola, Aare Olubode Fakunle, Balogun Adegboyega Adesoye, Hon. Remi Lawal, Chief Olorode, AVM Tunde Ajayi, Hom. Korede osunsanya, WEMA Bank, MD-Ademola Adebise, Engr. HOB Lawal, Engr. Siki Aliu, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Korede Lawaal and many others.
