Anchor Event Centre on Agidingbi road Ikeja was filled to the brim, penultimate Sunday September 17th, 2017 as the Ijeshas residing in Lagos gathered to celebrate the 3rd Ijesha day.
The Yellow and Ash themed event had many Ijesha indigenes doing so well in their choosen career in attendance.
It was also an opportunity for the people to discuss about the forthcoming 80th birthday of their respected king. Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijesha.
As early as 2pm, the Hall of Anchor event centre was already filled with many Ijesha people who came with many of their guests. Many of them were spotted in the Yellow and Ash ankara which was transformed into eye-catchy styles.
Though the Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola couldn’t be at the event but he made sure that he was fully represented. The paramount ruler of Ijeshaland who will be clocking 80 in the next few weeks was not present at the event but Oba Erinmo Ijesha, Oba Michael Odunayo Ajayi was fully on ground to represent him.
He was not alone, he enjoyed the event with Prince Adegboyega Haastrup, Engineer Isaac Omopariola among many others.
84 years old Mrs. Ilaka also had no hidings place at the event. The octogenarian was the one who donated two acres of land for Ijesha indigenes to build a recreational centre in Ilesha.
The Chairman of Ijesha day was no other than Nigeria maritime top shot, Princess Toyin Kolade. The CEO of Fisolak was like a golden fish at the event as she was dressed in a special white lace. Her makeup was glowing but moderate for an Ilesha Princess. She adorned her attire with the best of diamond jewelery that kept people talking while the event lasted.
As expected, she came with a large number guests like Alhaja Idowu Adetunji, Mercy Aigbe’s ex-husband, Mr. Lanre Gentry, Hajiya Anifowose, Oloori Ganiat Animashaun, Mrs. Funke Akinpelu, Mrs. Busola Okunlaja, Abiola Taiwo, K Glow and her sister, Remi Talabi, Mrs. Olawunmi Osobu-Abatan, Alhaja Amope Oluokun, Mrs. Fatimo Sumola-Anjous. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi couldn’t make the event but he was represented at the event by the 3 Ogunwusi sisters who all came with their handsome husbands.
They were led by Princess Folasade Fadairo while Olusolu and Adebimpe also followed suit.
Many Ijesha indigenes who are musicians serenaded guests. Queen Ayo Balogun, the Queen of Juju musician, Dugbe, Baba Ijesha, Erekenishop, Ijesha rapper were among many who performed while Madam Kofo compered.
Among many guests at the event were Mrs. Ayodele Adeola, Mrs. Iwalola Oyejolami, Mrs. Babatunde Sonaike, Mrs. Ajayi Olabisi, Alhaja Ganiat (Jewelry Galaxy Boss), Toyin Runsewe (CEO Rusy Twiener), Mrs. Funke Akinpelu, Afolabi Afolayan, Toyin Omonijo, Tunde Faloye, among others.
A number of Ijesha social clubs were also in attendance, the likes of Osomalo Club of Ijeshaland. They were led by Osomalo Abiodun, the Chairman, Dare Ojo, Ashaolu Fowewe, Kolawole Oludare, Ola Ajimo, Olarinde Moses, Obawamiye Boluwaji among many others, while Erekenishop led Ijesha indigenes in Lagos.
