Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has warned the new governor-elect, Chief Emeka Ihedioha to stop acting as the substantive governor of the state declaring his conduct and activities as an act of impersonation.
He further declared unequivocally that he is still the governor of Imo State until May 29, 2019 and condemned a scenario where the governor-elect would be arrogating to himself the powers and duties of a serving governor.
In a statement issued yesterday by Sam Onwuemeodo, his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, the Governor, noted with dismay that Ihedioha rushed to the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, SMICA, during a fire incident Monday and flagrantly issued directives to the Management of the Airport, in less than an hour after the report of the incident.
The Governor who queried why the governor-elect would do that added that the hasty movement to the airport is suspicious because, according to him, the PDP is capable of acting anything.
He also frowned at a recent official statement issued by Chief Ihedioha with the heading, “Government of Imo State” threatening to close banks engaging in further financial transactions with the state government.
The governor who posited that Ihedioha by the appointment of over 460 persons as Transition and Inauguration Committee members has shown that he is unaware of what government entails, called on his party and others to advise him to be civil and wait for his time.
The statement read, “As we write and for Chief Emeka Ihedioha who was announced winner of the governorship election in the State by Mr. Francis Ezeonu led INEC in Owerri to be acting as governor and conducting activities meant for a sitting governor is impersonation. And he should be advised to maintain certain level of decorum or decency.”
“Again, for Ihedioha to set up what he termed Transition Technical Committee of 139 members and that of the Governorship inauguration Committee of 323 members making the total number to be 462 shows that he does not even know what the governorship of a State is all about. He therefore needs some tutorials in that regard”, the statement added.
