When Akinwale Akindiji Akinbode a once-bubbling young guy gained admission into the National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) In the year 2015 to study Law, little did he know that he would soon drop out of school cutting short his big dream and aspiration to become a lawyer. In 2017, he fell ill and after a series of tests, he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. Being a sickle cell patient also compounded his case. He was to later drop out of school due to the kidney infection. After treatment, there was no money to continue his education as he’s currently on maintenance with dialysis twice a week.
It costs N39,500 per section, and sometimes it can cost N49,500. Every month, we spend N180,000 on this, not including the expensive tests and drugs. Wale desperately needs assistance and help, as transportation to the hospital is another huge expense. While pleading with well meaning people in the society to assist his son, his mother said she has borrowed a lot of money and there is a lot of debt to be paid. She is struggling because she doesn’t have time for work, as there’s no one to stay with him during this period. As a result, he hasn’t been able to continue his education. Currently, he is fighting kidney disease.
When Impact and Inspire team paid him a visit on assessment of his medical condition, the humanitarian foundation concluded the following arrangements:
ON MEDICAL
By God’s grace Impact and Inspire will be raising N22 million naira from friends and family for his transplant.
So far, Wale has received a total of N2 million naira from Impact & Inspire Wuraolami Foundation for his medical care under the Impact and Inspire Wuraolami Foundation Disabled Student Allowance (IIWFDSA). This is a great assistance for Wale, who suffers from a long-term illness and his family.
ON EDUCATION
Additionally, the foundation has provided him with N500,000 naira to complete his education, and a monthly Stipends cum allowance of N30,000 naira for his upkeep, as well as other groceries such as provisions, foodstuff and beddings.
ON EMPLOYMENT
Moreover, Impact and Inspire Wuraolami Foundation has given Wale a remote job opportunity to work from home at his convenience. This has greatly boosted his self-esteem and given him a sense of belonging. Furthermore, the foundation will be empowering his mother to be self-employed so that she can have more time to take care of Wale and the family.
MOBILITY CARE:
Lastly, the foundation has awarded the Motability Scheme to Wale and his mother to help them get mobile with the extra costs and to alleviate the usuall discomfort they experience while taking Wale to the hospital. According to Wale’s mother during the visit, she lamented that they can no longer afford to take taxis due to low income and lack of funds.
The Motability Scheme is designed to support physically challenged students with their study-related costs due to long-term illnesses, mental health problems, or other disabilities.
The Impact & Inspire Wuraolami Foundation is committed to supporting disabled youth and their families. According to Dame Ifeoyinola Wuraolami .W., no child/youth should suffer based on their family background, unless they brought it upon themselves. Even at that, we still have to forgive and be there for them if they have learned their lesson, because children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. (Psalms 127:3-5).
SPIRITUAL HEALING:
Furthermore, the Impact and Inspire Initiative will continue to support the family by providing daily counselling and inspirational messages for spontaneous healing. We will keep them in our prayers for a quick and permanent recovery.
We kindly request donations towards this noble cause to bless Akinwale. Please make donations promptly as we intend to implement our final decisions this month.
