For over 5 years, iRokoTV has been making the best of Nollywood movies available to everyone – in Nigeria and most of all, abroad. Jason Njoku, the CEO and founder of the iRoko Group, has unarguably been very instrumental in the launching of the Nigerian movie industry to the world. Today, Nollywood is the second largest film industry in the world after Hollywood.
And they are not stopping there. Late last year, they launched the Netflix model iRoko App to make Nollywood content easy to access for all subscribers on their mobile phones.
But there was an obstacle to growth in the Nigerian market: Data prices. At the end of 2016, iRokoTV started to tackle this problem by placing kiosks in strategic locations around Lagos – pink in colour, really hard to miss. The kiosks were set up simply to aid customer experience and to assist them with Data-Free Downloads.
The Data-Free Download feature was not live initially as it was still being tested, but now Jason has announced that the feature has gone live. From February 1st, iRokoTV subscribers will be able to download data-free content from the iRoko kiosks scattered around Lagos.
So happy beta testing of @irokotv Beyond Data 1.0 is over. Data-Free Downloads for all our subscribers coming 1st Feb. At a kiosk near you
Locating an Iroko Kiosk has been made easy for subscribers, there is a kiosk-finder feature on the iRoko app. Year by year, Jason’s iRokoTV finds new ways to make Nollywood movie streaming easier for subscribers, and this is their best effort yet.
