As part of activities marking its annual end of session party, Jacobs educational institute a foremost school in the heart of Ogun state organized a befitting Valedictory service and prize-giving day ceremony.
The event which took place inside Marigold event center, KM 38, Lagos Abeokuta expressway road Sango –Ota had in attendance important personalities parents, students, and well wishers.The school principal Mr Oladele AD delivered the opening speech; he congratulated the graduating students for exhibiting a high level of discipline and moral values during their stay at school. He was particularly grateful for the ex-students of the school who are doing fantastically well in their various tertiary institutions thereby bringing glory to their alma mater.
He said that the theme of this year celebration is ‘’peculiar achievers’’ owing to the fact that the out going students comported themselves very well in the area s of academics and character. He said all the graduands passed their WAEC exams with flying colours.
He advised the students not to rest on their oars as there are greater challenges to face in life and that they must thrive to face them boldly with utmost determination. The principal was also grateful to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution for contributing immensely to the success story of the ‘’peculiar Achievers’’ Mr Oladele saluted the courage of the chairman and director of Jacobs schools and educational services for the vision to establish this great school where future leaders who will lead the country and run industries are trained.
Mrs Ero-Philips the school head teacher also delivered her speech thanking God for the successful completion of the 2016/2017 academic session saying it is the 21st in the history of the school. She posited that Jacobs educational institute always thrives to ensure that the cognitive( Knowledge, understanding, and application ) are bestowed on the students. She claimed that the school recorded 100 % academic success in both external and internal examinations.
On the issues of charitable causes embarked upon by the school, she maintained that the management and pupils showed kindness and generosity by reaching out to motherless babies homes, during the last school anniversary.
The school drama group presented a playlet to the admiration of everyone present whilst the cultural group entertained with great cultural and calistenic displays. Furthermore, Jacobs High School students who have received training in peculiar areas of sports also showed flashes of the martial sports Karate.
The school’s head boy Iwala Oladayo in his speech thanked the authority of the school for the knowledge impacted on him during the course of his stay at the institution.He urged his graduating mates to remain very focus and not forget to be great ambassadors of the citadel of learning.He advised them that it is pertinent to compliment the efforts of their parents.He begged the students coming behind to keep the flag flying. He thanked all the teachers who taught and instill discipline on him and mates.
The school’s head girl Folashade Kayode in her speech gave gratitude to God for making their academic and social sojourn at the school a success. She expressed her unflinching appreciation to the proprietress and the management team for doing a good job on her and colleagues saying constructive criticisms helped motivate them a lot. She claimed that the rigours of achieving their individual and collective aims at school have proven not to be a bed of roses but a course worth working for while negotiating the anxieties and curves of childhood with its distractions and uncertainties.She advised her colleagues and stalites students to be very careful in their career path. She appreciated the efforts of everyone who gave so much as the opportunity to achieve their desired goals.
Awards of excellence plaques and prizes were given to out going students who shone in various subjects.Tolulope Taiwo emerged the best in Mathematics, English Further Maths, Physics and ICT while Oluseye emerged the best in Biology, Chemistry, Economics, and CCP. Adelowo Ayobami emerged the best in Government, CRS, Literature in English and French.
Adeola emerged best in Geography while Babatunde Tobi emerged best in Commerce and Financial Accounting.Omogberai Godwin emerged best in Data Processing, while Olagboye Reward emerged best in Civics. Tolulope Taiwo emerged the Valedictorian of the set.
The chairman of Jacobs educational Institute Mr Sokunbi urged the government to invest more in education.He posited that educational system in Nigeria needs resources to be maintained.He also stressed that NTI and NCE should not be scrapped saying these certificates qualify an individual to be a teacher. The Principal of the school thanked WAEC for releasing 2017/2017 result early.
