•What He Said At His Interactive Session With EKO Club
Last week, the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos, Dr. Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran popularly called Jandor had an interactive session with members of Eko Club. During the session, Jandor spoke on his plans for Lagos.
Speaking on the bad roads in Lagos, he said “it’s so terrible and this is why we are experiencing traffic in Lagos. Like the people of Abuja will say, I don’t want to go to that your Lagos. You cannot move around Lagos without experiencing traffic, Lekki Ajah is not a place you want to go because of Traffic, I am assuring us that when we come into office, there will be a solution to the traffic issues in Lagos. The reason is every intercession on the road, we are going to fly them over. Lagos has resources and we are going to use the resources to do the fly overs. The same way we will also try to make additional money for Lagos State. How do we make money? Everyone doing business and wants to come to Lagos will be allowed to come in and do their business, without paying a dime. Remember, when you allow a business man to do business in your state or country, the man will pay tax and do some other things that will generate money for the State. Also, because of the 2-intercession development that just rounded up in that Lekki Ajah axis, very soon we are going to have more pressure on that road, but I can assure you that we have a solution for such problem.
Also, if you are coming from Epe, before you get to the main junction, there is one terrible road on your right when you are going. If you don’t have any business in that axis, there is no need of going there. Same also goes for Iyana Ipaja. From Ipaja, going to Egbeda to Lasu Ojo road, the turn off to Abesan, as you enter that road, people coming from Akowonjo,it can be terrible on that axis. If we clear the Akowonjo junction as you move forward again to Idimu, Ikotun, you will agree with me that ,if we clear the road that we are talking about, because of the T junction and because of the house on the other side, Orelope, Ojo road ,you will start seeing another traffic. If you move further, another traffic is also building up. We have a truck site on that axis, which slows down vehicular movement on the road, but, when we get into office, we will take trucks off the road, for us to have a free flow in that area.
When you also get to Igando, that BRT junction, you will see Agbero’s and Lastma, as soon as you leave that axis, the traffic emerges again. Majority of this problems are caused by bad roads. Immediately we get to the office, we will fix all the bad roads in Lagos State.
Another thing is to pay attention to the inner roads that we can use as by passes, and you know these are local government roads, But as Governor of Lagos State, any local government Chairman that refuses to repair his road, I will use my money to do the road and deduct it from the local government Chairman’s salary the same way state government constructs federal road and collect the money later. Reason is, if I do that to one local government Chairman, others will sit up and we will have good roads in the whole of Lagos State because immediately there is a pause on the roads, we will have a buildup. All this we will resolve when we get to office. Another serious issue confronting the City of Lagos is flooding.
Another serious issue confronting us in Lagos State, is the one that I see every day, where you have people robbing our people inside traffic when traffic has built up, I have a solution to this also. Maybe because of my background, I grew up in Mushin and was not born with a silver spoon. Today, we have some set of individuals under the organization empowered by the government, though it is a body that is recognized by the law, because, we call them labour union and this people, the government has decided to use them as tools of harassment of extortion and more. When I assume office, because, it is a legal organization, I will also use them as tools. What are the tools? I just spoke about the problems of our bad roads, as we speak, all I need to do is to use the man in charge of Ojota garage, you know the man is making money from the garage every day and his source of livelihood depends on the garage. I will call him Mr. Man, any day I hear of a robbery in this corridor that is the day I will take away the job from you, you will discover that the man will send his boys to go and fill up that road on daily basis. I need to assure us that, we have a government that is on top of every situation as soon as we come into office.
Let me tell you my personal experience about water in Lagos State. In my house in the mainland, a man came one day and told me that he wants to cut my supply of water. I was like what is happening? Meanwhile, because of lack of trust, remember that, there is a man behind the water system, which when you get him angry or do otherwise, we don’t know what will happen. But, if it is the bore hole system of water all you will need to do is to pump the water, but who pays for pumping of the water. What I will do is this. There will be a stakeholders meeting, where we will sit down to agree on modalities, it will be by zone to zone. If their conclusion is, give us government water, we will have a way to pay. I won’t stay here and say, there will be water for all.
