Janet Adetu is the CEO and Managing Director of J.S.K Etiquette Consortium and also the President and founder of Gallant Graces Foundation. Gallant Graces Foundation is set up to be a leading provider of leadership change opportunities through impactful feminine hygiene education that promotes personal development and national sustainability. 30th day of May, 2018, will remain a remarkable day in the lives of students of Kuramo Secondary School, Victoria Island Lagos as the Gallant Graces Foundation held an outreach themed: Living my Dream” for the girls in the school.
It all started with the principal’s address after which the President /Founder of G.G.F announced the reason for the Gold Outreach, which is passionate about training a girl and building a nation. The students had training in leadership skills, inter-personal skills, confidence skills and grooming by different speakers. The acronym G.O.L.D was defined G-Grooming-Hygiene, Personal care, presentation, O:Opportunity-Mentorship, Scholarship, Angel Network, L:Leadership-Inspirational talks, Seminars, Motivational platforms, D:Decorum-Lifestyle, interpersonal skills, Etiquette Comportment , Decorum.
Interpersonal skills involve attitude, behaviour and communication (abc). Confidence skills explain how a girl should portray boldness in the way she speaks, sits, stands. Confidence is an inner strength that is reflective on the outside. After series of lectures came the time to practicalise all they had been taught. The practical section involved how a girl should take proper care of all parts of her body to avoid body odour and mouth odour.
Every participant went home with Basic grooming kit and the items int he kit include: *Always Sanitary Pad, *Anti Persperant, *Ankara Sanitary Purse, *Tissue, *Hair Brush, *Handkerchief, *Sponge *Toothpaste, *Tooth Brush, *Detergent *Toilet Soap.
More than 200 students were given the grooming kits and the G.G.F T-shirt as well as a lunch pack. The Gallant Grace E Road map is to educate, equip, empower, engage, evolve and hold an interactive session where girls could share the knowledge they had gained and they also share the knowledge in their communities among their friends etc. Knowing fully well that the female body parts are highly sensitive and should be treated with great care. Etiquette on how to sit, eat, stand, talk, walk, relate with people were also taught. The girls were so excited and ready to spread the information to their friends as the training has pumped up their level of confidence .
