On December 3, 2023, Mr. Jimmy Enyeh, the publisher of the National Waves Newspaper and Magazine, was honoured with the National Media Community Award at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Ogba, Lagos. The award, “Icon of Media Excellence in Print Journalism,” was presented by the Nigeria Media Network and Daily Pride Communications to recognize Mr. Enyeh‘s untainted years of experience and great achievements in rising to the zenith of the Journalism profession through hard work and doggedness.
Dr. Agnes NyumahBokai and others sent a letter to Mr. Enyeh, notifying him of the award. The letter was signed by the Chairman Advisory Board Governing Council. Mr. Enyeh, a creative writer and an expert in disseminating authentic information to the general public, was born in Lagos to Mr. and Mrs. James Jde Jimmy Enyeh. He comes from Boboroku Jesse in Ethope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Mr. Enyeh began his educational career at St. Isaac Nursery School in Surulere Lagos State in 1971 and proceeded to Tinu Primary School in Surulere Lagos State in 1973. He attended Metropolitan College, Isolo Lagos State, for his secondary education from 1979-1984 and then went to the prestigious University of Lagos, where he earned a Diploma in Mass Communication in 1992.
Not done with his quest for knowledge, Mr. Enyeh went on to study Public Administration at Ambrose Alli University, where he obtained a degree in 2007. He has put in over 27 years in active journalism and is known for his creative thinking and ability to think outside the box. He is also a devout Christian.
A writer with diverse experience, began his career as a society writer for Goodtime Magazine in Lagos in 1995. In 1997, he joined Fame Magazine as a staff writer and later moved to The Marvel Magazine as a Deputy Editor in 1999. In 2000, he joined City People Magazine as a correspondent in the Abuja office, where later he became the Abuja Bureau Chief. In 2008, he left City People to set up NATIONAL WAVES Newspaper and Magazine in Abuja, which also has an online version at www.nationalwaves-ng.com.
He has a cosmopolitan outlook and is knowledgeable about other countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, the Republic of Ireland, Dubai, Morocco, and Ethiopia.
He is an advocate for peace and was honoured with the award of International Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) in Abuja on September 2, 2010. The UPF is an international NGO with special consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC) and has branches in more than 210 independent nations, including Nigeria. The award was given in recognition of his past efforts at promoting peace and the new global commissioning of UPF worldwide Peace Building Programmes, which are designed to complement the mission of the United Nations.
He has received other awards for his work.
He is married to Olubisi Enyeh and they have lovely children.
