The palace of the Aboro of Iboroland became a mini-pilgrimage centre on Friday, July 22, 2022, as top government functionaries, politicians, royal fathers, businessmen and women, socialites, society women and corporate individuals stormed the ancient town of Iboro, Ogun State to celebrate the 5th coronation anniversary of Oba Daniel Abayomi Salako, Agunloye IV who mounted the throne of his ancestors this time 5 years ago.
The 10-day-long event started on Friday, July 15, 2022, and ended on Sunday, July 24 2022. Some of the activities that made the event memorable included the commemorative Jumat prayers by Muslim clerics and visitation to selected sacred places in Iboro. Indoor games, Novelty match, Youth and Women Empowerment program awards and installation of new chiefs, and as sealed with a thanksgiving service.
Jumaat service was held on Friday, at the Gbagura Central Mosque while the main event of the anniversary was held the next day. On Saturday, the Agura Statue at the Agura Road Junction, Ago Ikaa was commissioned while new chiefs were installed to mark the new reign of Kabiyesi.
Let’s quickly tell you that Oba Salako also honoured some prominent Nigerians at the event. 10 individuals went away with different chieftaincy titles. Names like the popular former vice chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Rahamon Adisa Bello and his beautiful wife, who is a sociologist by profession and a retired director in the Lagos State civil service were among those that bagged titles in Iboroland.
OBA AKINTUNDE AKINYEMI AND WIFE’S FASHION STATEMENT
Oba Akintunde Akinyemi and his wife needed no introduction during the procession. He stood out from among other royal fathers. Kabiyesi and his wife were dressed in radiant brown and classy Aso-Ofi. This attire not only suits the event, but it also fits the Kabiyesi and his Olori so well. They looked like a young couple that is just getting married in the traditional way.
The Eselu himself anchored the fundraising and chieftaincy session.
Former Deputy Governor Ogun State, Salamotu Badru shows up
One of the illustrious daughters of Ogun State, who is also a chieftaincy title holder in Ogun State, was present at the event. Her classy outfit stood her out and she was easily spotted among the crowd. She has been a huge fan and supporter of the Aboro of Iboroland since the first coronation. She came with her caravan of friends and colleagues.
Prince Olugbenga Adeyemi Olusoji becomes the Aremo of Iboroland
Prince Olugbenga is a prominent son of the soil in Iboroland. He had his primary and secondary school education in Yewa. He has worked both in the public and private sectors. The Aboro of Iboro commended his immense contributions to human capital, religious as well as community development projects that have helped many in the community. He was decorated with the Aremo chieftaincy title while his wife Olori Olubusola Olusoji bagged the Yeye Aremo of Iboroland.
OLU OF ILARO LEADS THE GALAXY OF KINGS
The event was filled with many A-list royal fathers who came to honour their fellow king at his 5th coronation anniversary, they include the Olu of Ilaro, and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr (ESV) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, Asade Agunloye (IV), Oba Eng, LukmanKuoye, Olu of Imasayi, Oba (Eng) Oyebanjo Adetunji Olowbese Oloja of Oja Odan; Oba Mukila Salako, Adokun of Igankoto, Oba Adeyemi Olanrewaju, Adekete Abeda of Joga Orile; Oba Azeez Adelakun, Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba B.B Oyero, Onidale of Dale Ketu; Oba Teslim Nasir, Olodun of Odon; and Oba Eng Adesegun Rufai Alao, Olowo of Owo Yewa; Oba Adeniyi Oluyinka Emulu Olu of Orile Itesiland in Odeda, Oba M.S Akindele, the Olu of Owode Yewa; Oba Akintude Ebenezer, Eselu of Iselu. MEET THE NEW CHIEFS OF ILARA KINGDOM
Those who were honoured by Oba Daniel Salako were those who had obviously made impacts in their line of trade. Some of them are very popular and those who are not have made positive impacts in their different fields. The list has the following people on it
Engr Oluwaseyifunmi Moses Olabiyi is a thoroughbred professional He is the brain behind the Initiative- Farm for Nations in Nigeria and an appreciable number of African nations. He was honoured with the title of the Bobatolu of Iboroland. Mrs Adah Oluseyi Moses Olabiyi, his wife was honoured with the title of the Yeye Bobatolu of Iboroland.
Chief Adeyinka Olujimi Awodumila has worked in different sectors of the economy and currently working in the health sector. He is conferred with the Taiyese of Iboroland. His wife, Mrs Abiola Elias Awodumila was conferred with the title of Yeye Taiyese of Iboro Kingdom.
Prof. Rahaman Adisa Bello is no doubt one of the illustrious sons of Iboroland who has done the community proud in every sphere. He is an international figure who anchored the affairs of the prestigious University of Lagos for many years before his retirement. He has become the Asiwaju of Iboroland, as his wife, who is equally a mother figure and a point of reference for a woman of virtue, Alhaja Momudat Adedoja Bello becomes the Yeye Asiwaju of Iboroland.
Chief Mrs Folake Ijelu Oke-Owo; is known for her success in the jewellery business. Others are Chief Olutunde Kehinde Owolabi, the Bada of Iboro Kingdom, and his wife, Chief Mrs. Shakirat Adewunmi Owolabi is the Yeye Bada of Iboroland.
Chief Mrs Yetunde Onilogbo becomes the Iyalaja of Iboroland. Mr Alaba Sobowale is conferred with the title of Majeobaje of Iboroland.
Brigadier General Lanre Muminu Bello (rtd) becomes the Jagunmolu of Iboroland, as his wife, Mrs Hajara B. Bello becomes Yeye Jagunmolu of Iboroland.
Young and Energetic Chief, Saheed Adesola Adesina becomes the Osolo of Iboroland.

The Aboro In-Council Members are the cluster of chiefs and Baales who are joining hands with the Aboro of Iboroland in the administration of the expanse of community. ALHAJI SHEFIU ALAO OMO OKO STUNS THE CHIEFS
African Fuji export, Alhaji Shefiu Alao was at the coronation ceremony. He mounted the stage at about 6 pm and held the guests spellbound. The jeering crowd couldn’t get enough of his sonorous voice and nugget that is filled with wisdom and knowledge. He proved that he’s a true-born Egba son. His performance spiced up the evening as the royal fathers got up to dance to his songs.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Jamiu Omoniyi, Olaolu Olabimtan · Hon Commissioner for Budget & Planning, and Hon. Dr Oluwatoyin Taiwo; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, was also at the event to represent the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
It was a memorable event that will be discussed by Iboro people for a long time.
