On Wednesday, May 1st 2019 at the prestigious Four Point by Sheraton Hotels in Victoria Island. The deputy governor-elect of Lagos State, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat in the company of his beautiful wife, Oluremi and family was hosted by his group of friends from the Ministry of Power, Works, and Housing.
Dr. Hamzat was the former Commissioner for Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in Lagos. He was also appointed as the Commissioner for Ministry of Science and Technology in Lagos in August 2005, a position he held till June 2011.
Thereafter he has reappointed Commissioner for Works and infrastructure by Governor Babatunde Fashola on July 4th 2011. He was appointed to be governor Ambode’s running mate in 2015 but he rejected it but accepted that position in 2018 because according to him he was more comfortable working with Sanwo Olu.
Moreover, they have been friends for over 15 years, so he believes they can do a better job together and also take the state to greater heights from where it is today.
The very classy event was witnessed by all big boys under APC’s National leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Governor-elect Sanwo Olu was unavoidably absent because he was at Abuja that same day for a very important event and when he got back he couldn’t meet up with the party because of serious traffic.
A good number of friends took time to deliver goodwill speeches, the likes of Akeem Bello. Mrs. Moturayo Alimi, Prince Segun Oniru, one of his closest allies and a two-time commissioner for waterfront infrastructure development in Lagos. They all mentioned all the friendly, simple and humble nature of the incoming deputy governor who treats everybody equally.
There was so much to eat and drink.
The deputy governor in return thanked the organizers of the event. He talked about some pressing issues in the country especially in the state that need to be taken care of and also specially thanked his boss, Ahmed Bola Tinubu who brought him from U.S to work with him, believing he can do a lot for the state and the nation as a whole.
He described himself as a very reserved person that respect his privacy a lot. He also thanked his beautiful wife Oluremi Hamzat for always being there and their daughter for their understanding. Popular comedian, Bash then cracked everybody up with his rib cracking jokes that made everywhere lively.
Engineer Kuti, the controller of the ministry of works and housing who happens to be one of the organizers of the event gave the vote of thanks, expressed his gratitude to the deputy governor-elect for making out time despite his very busy schedule. He thanked the co organizers and the event planner led by Tefa for putting up a very beautiful and classy dinner to celebrate their brother and friend.
He ended his speech with a statement that he is very sure Lagos will be totally transformed with these two brilliant guys in office considering their wealth of knowledge and the deputy governor’s experience with the minister of power, works and housing, he is grounded and ready for the job. He urged everyone to always remember them in prayers. Before the dinner was brought to a close, there was a networking session where everybody interacted with each other. The dinner thereby ended with a closing prayer.
