The transition of power from one administration to another is emblematic of the growth and development of the affairs of the organization or society. I am impressed with the resolute commitment displayed by the 27th Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Mrs. Olabisi Demola-Alade and other members of the Executive Committee to build on the achievements of previous administrations and curb the activities of quacks who have infiltrated the profession under different masks.
Our administration will synergise with the membership of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in Lagos State to sanitise the real estate and property investment sector for the benefit of our people and the growth and development of our economy. You should be aware that we have implemented reforms that will ease the process of business in the real estate and property investment sector through the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) and the Lagos State Task Force on Land Matters.
To a large extent, we have been able to curb the nefarious activities of dubious real estate and property agents who have caused innocent members of the public to lose their monies and investments through false claims. The Task Force on Land Matters has proved to be very effective in monitoring real estate and property investment transactions and we have been able to prosecute defaulters effectively.
I will urge the new administration led by Mrs Olabisi Demola-Alade to build on the goodwill and cooperative support between the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in Lagos State to ensure that all practicing professionals and estate investment firms in Lagos State are registered with the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority to ensure uniformity in sanitizing the real estate and property investment sector in Lagos State.
The impact that has been made on the development of the Nigerian landed economy by the activities of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors remains tremendous. With the help of the Institution, Nigeria and most especially Lagos have been able to establish a high and reputable standard of professional conduct and practice in the real estate and property investment profession which, I believe is very commendable.
It is worthy to also note that through the activities of the Institution in Lagos, we have been able to secure and improve the technical knowledge entailed in landed economy valuation, appraisal of real estate and other fixtures and fittings, that have been really helpful and instrumental in the development of real estate in the state while also completely reducing the troubles Lagosians face when it comes to property development and valuation.
I congratulate the outgoing Chairman, ESV Paul Adedotun Bamigbola for his vibrant and effective model of leadership which has further consolidated the ranking of the institution in Lagos as a giant in Estate survey and valuation. As you pass on the leadership baton today and join the prominent league of past Chairmen of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (Lagos branch), I am filled with the hope that you will still continue to support the new leadership and offer advice based on your wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure the institution continues to live up to its objectives.
To the new Chairman, ESV. (Mrs) Olabisi Demola-Alade, I congratulate you on your ascension to this position. I am without doubt that given your experience as the previous Vice Chairman of the Institution and the wealth of knowledge you have accumulated in the Lagos State Government Land Bureau, you are equipped to take up this leadership position and even surpass the legacies of the past Chairman.
Your election into this position is coming at a time when Lagos State is mapping out ways to make the real estate, housing, architecture, and generally the landed economy in Lagos more viable to meet up with the demands of the 21st century and a Smart City State. I hereby implore you to work closely with us and also initiate ideas that will help us achieve our desired goals faster.
As a proactive government, we are ever open to ideas and initiatives that are targeted at improving the living standards of Lagosians and I assure this Institution that we are ready to welcome all ideas brought by you and aimed at developing the real estate and landed economy space in our state.
I appreciate ESV Emmanuel Okas Wike, the President of the Institution for hosting us today, and for all the Institution has achieved in the country under your able leadership.
I once again congratulate ESV. (Mrs) Olabisi Demola-Alade and other members of the Executive Committee on your election as the 27th Chairman of the Institution. I wish you a successful tenure.
Thank you all and God bless you.
