The chances of the Alliance for Democracy AD Governorship candidate, high chief Owolabi Salis becoming the next governor of Lagos received a boost after the Theatre Arts Association of Lagos came out en-masse to show their love and support for him as their preferred candidate in the forth coming 2019 election.
The Theatre Arts Association of Lagos is the umbrella organisation for all movie makers, producers and actors in the state, who claimed that they were tired of the systemic slavery in the state and wants a change in the governance that has failed to impact on the lives of forthcoming men in the last 20 years in the state.
The event which took place at the Adeboruwa night market square in Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA on Friday, had many veteran Nollywood Yoruba stars and their numerous fans who explained gave many reasons why they are throwing their weights behind Chief Salis.
Popular Nollywood Yoruba patriarch, Pa Peter Fatomilola who opened the day with prayers assured Nigerians that the movie makers decided to endorse Chief Salis because of his kind gestures and good works in ensuring the development of youths in form of trainings and empowerment especially in Ikorodu and other areas of Lagos.
Also speaking at the event was honourable Adefolajuwon Faniyi, a foundation member of Alliance for Democracy, AD who also doubled as the Chairman of the occasion; he said “I have been a member of AD since the days of the late Funsho Williams but I left politics for over eleven years because politicians stopped being truthful and trust worthy.
“However, I have found out that Chief Owolabi Salis is a selfless and different individual entirely. His passion to see the younger generation live as the best is second to none and these are the reasons I am joining the Theatre Arts practitioners in Lagos to endorse the AD candidate”.
Chief Owolabi Salis while delivering a lecture on improving the living standard of the commoners in Lagos revealed that there is a need for commoners in Lagos to be catered for in four different segments including; feeding, housing, education and quality and affordable health services.
The widely travelled lawyer and chattered account said if you take away the problem of feeding, housing, health and education from Lagos, the state will indeed become a mega city not because of huge structures but the standard of living of the people.
He furthered revealed that if elected, his government is ready to improve the economy of Lagos by supporting the theatre arts practitioners with needed helps to improve their production and exporting the movies to a more wider audience through collaborations with international music and movie producers like Sony entertainment.
In conclusion, he said enough is enough for some individuals in the state to stop using the commonwealth of lagos for their personal gain, his analysis revealed that with the current financial strength of Lagos, every ward in each local government will be able to provide basic facilities for its residents and that’s where touching lives begins.
Present at the event were veteran actors like Peter Fatomilola, Charles Olumo aka Agbako, Mrs Bukola Mosoba aka Amina Eleha, Prince Adesina Soetan aka Esu, Chief Olayinka Orekoya, Elder Kolawole Sangolade.
Others are Hon Adegoke of Ikorodu federal constituency II, Hon Tolulope of Ifako Ijaiye fed constituency, Hon Oluwaseyi Akinleye of Ikeja federal constituency, Hon Adeleke Abiodun representing Ikeja 1, Youth Vanguard President, Seyi Oyewole, Mr Kola Sangolaye.
Also present were other top actors like Lamidi Adewale, Oloye Ajere, Prince Adedapo Adedamola, Mr Kayode Akilapa, Opeyemi Ilelabayo aka Fuji surutu, Elder Gbadebo Ekunrikia, Jide Alaba Aare, Chief Banuso Lisa, Olaseni Owowole and several other AD members in Lagos.
