What should Lagosians expect from Gov. Ambode in the next 15 months, in terms of mega projects he was asked. If you are one of those who believe that Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has done considerably well in terms of delivering on all his campaign promises, we can quickly reveal to you that there is more to come.
This is because from next month till the election year of 2019 he last a long list of mega projects he is determined to accomplish. And he has begun work on a few of them already. That was the good news that the Lagos Governor told City People magazine two weeks back when he granted City People a Special interview.
“Its going to be 15 months of good dividends of democracy, to Lagosians,” explained the Governor. “I tell you, there is a lot coming. Let me reel them out to you. We would deliver the International airport road. We would deliver the Pen Cinema bridge. We are going to deliver the Bus Terminal in Oshodi by May next year. There is a Shopping Mall that is under construction in Oshodi.
We are regenerating Oshodi. We are doing an Urban-Renewal programme as Special Projects for Ikoyi, V.I and Ikeja GRA. We are going to light up everywhere and clean up the streets and then do all the roads. We are going to do a major Urban Renewal Programme of all those highbrow area. Before that, we are going to deliver Ayinke House. We will deliver the Epe-Ijebu-Ode Road.
We are going to start the Opebi-Link bridge, up to Odo Iyalaro in Maryland and we would push it to 3rd Mainland Bridge. We are going to do PPP on the Ikorodu-Agbowa-Itoikin-Ijebu Ode road. Its going to be 8 lanes. The Airport lane is going to be 10 lanes. We are delivering by November.
We are delivering the Museum at Onikan. We are doing a new Specialist hospital. The list is long, very long. And I promise we would deliver on all of it. We have our plans. We have our agenda. The issue is this: We need Infrastructure to drive Tourism. The future of Lagos is in Tourism and Service. So, my cornerstone is about Infrastructure and Tourism, to secure the future prosperity of this state.
When I leave, I want to look back in 30 years, to be able to say, you know what, God I thank you for giving me that Grace to put Lagos on the rise for ever. That is the only thing that is just pushing me. I want to be able to look back and be happy, just the same way Baba Jakande and Baba Mobolaji Johnson are looking back at us now and are happy with what we are doing. I also want to go and sit down and look back and say, you know what? This newer generation are better than me. Thats what we are working towards.
So, in the next 15 months, Lagos State would see phenomenal transformation.”
