Dami is a TV presenter, Radio OAP, event host and Red Carpet host, Dami whose real name is Damilola Banire started her entertainment game after she resigned from the bank in 2011 January. She recently anchored City People 22nd Anniversary and was interviewed by City People, PRECIOUS POMAA.
Who is Damilola?
I am Damilola Banire, I call myself a Media Entrepreneur because I am a TV presenter, OAP and an actress I do everything under the entertainment umbrella except singing.
How did you start?
I started in 2011 officially after I resigned in January, I have worked in so many places like banks, tourist centres just a few to mention. After I resigned My friend said to me Dami, you did Mass Communication in school you free and all what not, why don’t you go into entertainment as time went I found myself in an audition someone discovered me and asked if I love to act. I said no because I have heard news of actress sleeping around to get roles, he said to me no that it is only if you give into them, so I gave it a short and here I am today.
What are the challenges you have faced so far?
They are so many challenges, we all know that in every industry they are so many challenges like man know man, gang members and all what not most of all Godfather. When you go out there to met people instead of them to ask what you can do they will be giving your opinions of what the know you can’t do, these are very difficult challenges I face but it has not stopped my work.
How do you cope doing all this under entertainment?
I studied Mass Communication but I did not decide to use it because of the structure of the industry but when I came in someone told me I have sense and beauty, God also help you know how to communicate, so for me I feel it is a part of me, I work while playing and play while working these things are part of me so I can cope.
How do you cope with the male in the industry?
We have so many wolves in sheep clothing but when they come and see that I am not like that they move back I have so many director and producers on my neck that says I cannot make it without sleeping with them and all, truth be told they have not even used me but I am still growing he regardless.
Where do you see yourself five years to come?
Anything can happen before tomorrow. I aspire to be big things.
