On Saturday, 13th July 2019, the sleepy town of Ejigbo in Osun State was in rousing celebration to mark the exit of the father of London-based big babe, Modupe Olugbodi-Alade, popularly known as Yeye Dupsy. All roads that led to the ancient town of Ejigbo; from Oyo, Ogbomosho, Iwo and Osogbo experienced heavy traffic from Thursday, 11th of July as residents were agog to witness an event that shook the town.
The Late Pa Jacob Ogunremi Olugbodi, who slept in the Lord in February, 2019 died at age 92. The burial was witnessed by chiefs and important dignitaries from all walks of life?
Pa Jacob, in his life time, was a loving, caring, wonderful father. He was a perfectionist who refused to accept any standard short of perfection. He was a man of honour and a disciplinarian. According to his daughter, Modupe Olugbodi-Alade, my dad, Pa. Jacob Olugbodi was a man who would forever be remembered for a life well spent, Special dad is hard to find. Dad, I’m keeping you you in my mind. I wish you could have stayed forever, but I will never forget you; oh not ever. If dreams weren’t dreams and dreams come true, I would have you here; with me. Distance is one thing that keeps us apart, but dad, you will always remain in my heart. A special smile, a special face, a special someone I can’t replace. I love you and I always will. You filled a space that no one else could refill”.
AT THE WAKE
According to Christian burial tradition in which the wake is usually organised for the dead, The wake in honour of Pa Jacob Ogunremi Olugbodi took place on Friday 12th July, 2019 at family residence POPO Area Oko road Ejigbo. . It was a path for the children of the deceased to begin the process of bidding their dad, whom they obviously held in esteem, farewell. The atmosphere was completely somber for the event that started at 5:00 pm. Family members and very close friends of the deceased’s children were in attendance while it lasted.
INTERMENT PRECEDES CHURCH SERVICE
The following day, 13th July, 2019, before the remains of the departed were taken to the family compound at Ijimoba, Ejigbo to be committed to the mother earth, a church service was held at Beulah Baptist Church, Ejigbo, in the morning and the officiating ministers who were on ground, prayed for the repose of his soul, while they interceded on the family’s behalf for fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. After the church service, the corpse which was in white glossy casket was ferried by Love of God undertakers into a hearse as its journey to its final resting place began. The internment later took place at the family house in Ijimoba, Ejigbo.
RECEPTION FOLLOWS IMMEDIATELY
After the burial, the ceremony moved straight to the reception venue, where a classy reception was scheduled to take place. What unfolded at the reception was more than just classy. It was glamorous and posh. Beautiful women dazzled in the Ankara Asoebi. Foods were served accordingly, and it was complemented with assorted wine and drinks of choice.

YEYE DUPSY SHINES
There is no better way to describe Modupe Olugbodi- Alade a.k.a Yeye Duspsy than a fashionista per excellence. She dazzled all through the event. She became the cynosure of all eyes as she changed to 4 different clothes to dance. Guests needed no one to tell them that the first daughter of the deceased is a great player when it comes to looking good. Yeye Dupsy’s fashion sense is out of this world.
LINDA AJANI ARRIVES WITH ADEKUNBI BABATUNDE
The duo of beautiful ladies, Linda Ajani and Adekunbi Babatunde actually stole the show when they arrived. Right from their entry into the hall, you could not just ignore their beauty. They also did justice to their Asoebi. Their arrival attracted attention as they came in when the party was about to start. Everybody turned to have a glimpse of the beautiful ladies.
2 MCs ANCHOR THE EVENT
They are professionals in the emceeing business. They sure know how to entertain guests doing what they know how to do best. Fast-rising and very funny Yoruba stand-up comedian, Comrade Hamzat Yinusa Alao popularly known as McUzoma was the Mc of the day, while Akolawole Adigun popularly known as Mc Success complimented him in anchoring the glorious event. With them, there was no dull moment as they reeled out different jokes, and everyone could not help laughing satisfyingly.
ADEWOLE ON THE BANDSTAND
Adewole Leye and his God’s Mercy Gospel band was a sensation to listen to at the party as they made everyone’s day with their excellent performance. Adewole surely knows how to engage his audience with his songs as he has the lyrics and beat for every part of the occasion. And his commendable effort did not go unrewarded, considering the large sums of money he made on the stage that day.
GUESTS DRESS IN ANKARA ASO EBI
There were 3 shades of Ankara Aso Ebi for the event, but all of them were beautiful, you would love to have them in your collection. The one that dominated the event was the first one picked from Yeye Dupsy’s side. And most of her guests did justice to the fabric with their unique styles.
BONIK CATERING SERVES PROMPTLY
The catering outfit that took the guests on a delicious expedition was no other than the popular Bonik Catering services from Oyo. They did their best in rendering high-quality service on the occasion. They serve assorted meals according to the demands of guests.
OTHER SIBLINGS PLAY HOST TOO
Though everyone had a caterer for his or her guests, there was no separation at all. If you have the grace, you can eat from one tent to the other without anyone questioning you. All the children of the deceased played big hosts to their guests. They were seen moving up and down in making sure that everyone ate to their satisfaction.
A RAIN OF SOUVENIRS TOO
Like rainfall, quality souvenirs rained on tables at the event that it almost became a burden for some of the guests as carry. The one that caught our attention was a souvenir bag designed with the same Aso Ebi, it was so beautiful. Undoubtedly, it was an event many people would not forget in a hurry.
