by City People
  • For Charity Work At The IDP Camps In The NORTH
  • Proudly Supported By ESTHER AJAYI Foundation

In London, where she lives, she is quite popular, on account of all the social work she does. She runs a very effective NGO that puts smiles on the faces of many people, especially young people. In Nigeria, she has the Mother Funmi Good Samaritan Foundation, which she registered in Nigeria in April 2016. And in London, she has The Good Samaritan Foundation UK (TGSK) UK, registered with the Charity Commission (Register of Charities) on 24th March 2015 in London.

Her commitment to social work has seen her travelling round the world. She has been working with the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps in the North, since early in the year. A few months back she came visiting the IDPs at Nassarawa State and the focus of her visit was Hope & Community Support for the IDPs It involved Counselling and Healthcare checks for the IDP’s.

The big news is that this pretty woman is in Nigeria right now to continue her work with the IDP’s in the North East. She is a certified counsellor and member of a number of prestigious professional bodies including: (1) Association of holistic Complementary practitioner (AHCP) (CCC). This is an organisation made up of professional counsellors and clinical supervisors. (2) British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). (3) Lewisham Counselling & Counsellors Training Associate where she completed a professional course in person-centred therapy (PCT).

She was appointed as a Parent Governor to the governing body of Box Grove primary school, by the ROYAL GREENWICH BOROUGH (2010) and worked as the head of welfare and spiritual committee and she is a member of association of Greenwich Governors (AGG) from 2010 till date.

The eventual founding of The Good Samaritan Foundation UK (TGSF) in 2010 and later established in Nigeria in 2015, is a fulfillment of an “age-long” dream of consummating service to humanity with the young ones being at the centre of assignment.

Counsellor Funmi Ademilua, being a natural motivational speaker, is applying the Principle of Catch- Them-Young to target and help the young ones by creating a team of passionate individuals that will join forces together to contribute in ridding our communities of youth violence, anti-social activities and poverty.

OUR PURPOSE

We aim to advance the education and social life of young people mainly but not exclusively through motivational interaction and leisure time activities so as to develop their mental, physical and spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as responsible individual and members of the society.

OUR MISSION

OUR OBJECTIVE

Our main objective is to improve the situation of young people between the ages of 12-24 that respond to regular events we organise in partnership with the soul winner ministry international youths. We focus on real social needs of young people who are vulnerable to gangsterism and crimes or at risk of being kicked out of school.

WHAT DO WE DO AT TGSF?

  1. MENTORING/COUNSELLING

We run inter-generational mentoring schemes, using role models from Africa, Caribbean and mixed-race heritage, to mentor young ethnic minority people. Our mentoring projects work with volunteer mentors from various sectors and professional backgrounds to help reshape and maintain their power, unique gifts and talents in a way that enables them grow into becoming responsible adults in life.

  1. INTERACTIVE SESSIONS

We offer monthly interactive sessions that will provide a safe environment for children and young people away from the streets so they can make optimal use of their time and talents by interacting positively with their peers as well as participating in physical or recreationalactivities to develop essential life skills.

  1. PARENTING SUPPORT

TGSF parenting support programme is aimed at helping families navigate the course of early life and adolescent crises especially with factors over which they have l1tile or no control.

We use drama among other strategies as a tool for young people to acquire life skills as they participate in workshops that deal with issues such as conflict resolution, tolerance and respect for others.

  1. ECONOMIC SUPPORT

With the frequency of growth in global economic recession, and so many of the developing nations most affected by its incidence, THE GOOD SAMARITAN FOUNDATION (TGSF) feels obliged

to render economic support both in cash and in kind to the vulnerable especially those living below the poverty thresh-hold of two (2 USD) dollars per day. With all these, THE GOOD SAMARITAN FOUNDATION (TGSF) does not lose focus on the children and the young adults who may constitute public hazard if not helped especially during their formative years of development into adulthood.
