The Story Of Pastor LEKAN AKINBO
In three glorious decades, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries has carved an indelible niche for itself among the comity of churches worldwide. It has come to be known as a pacesetting church, bestriding the firmaments of Christendom like a colossus. The church’s thirty years journey so far has been filled with landmark events, phenomenal global expansion as well as unrivalled far-reaching impacts on the body of Christ and mankind as a whole than any other church today. The remarkable achievements, enviable heights, iconic status and positive global recognition that MFM enjoys today is attributable to the complete obedience, unwavering faith in God and unusual steadfastness of its Founder and General Overseer, Dr D.K.Olukoya, the Elijah of our time and God’s Generalissimo in the end times. Since inception, MFM has been known worldwide with their style of preaching and praying. The normal preaching style in MFM is the preacher and interpreter. Whenever pastor Olukoya mounts the pulpit, there is a particular pastor who mounts the pulpit with him. He is one of the closest Pastors to Pastor Olukoya. He is Pastor Lekan Akinbo. He has been interpreting for Pastor Olukoya for the past 27 years when the church was barely 3 years old. No doubt, there must have been a level of closeness between the two because of this huge responsibility placed on Pastor Lekan Akinbo.
His job has naturally made him a bible scholar who also study the word as much as pastor Olukoya does to fit in, into his style of preaching. In fact, many who know Pastor Olukoya surely know pastor Lekan with him because they are mostly together when it comes to sermon delivering. Pastor Lekan has mastered the act of interpreting MFM G.Os sermons in Yoruba to the extent that, their pronunciation of some words and demonstration of any illustration during the preaching is always the same. Not only is Pastor Lekan an interpreter, he is one of the top pastors in MFM who holds a key position in the church. He is the Regional Overseer, Lagos Region 7, Ejigbo Regional Headquarters. He has been described as one of the few men on the surface of the Earth with such calibre of wisdom, grasping and delivery of kingdom mysteries, humility, integrity, humour, ministry accelerated grace, undeniable proves of results through prayer. He is a Father, Husband, Leader, Pathfinder, Shepherd, Mentor and overall, a man after God’s heart.
He is also the Regional Overseer of MFM Region 20 Headquarters, Gbagada. He oversees all the Churches within the Region. He was the Regional overseer, youth churches, MFM Ministries International Headquarters from February 2000 to February 2010. He was Incharge of all the Youth Assemblies and Churches of the ministry worldwide. The graduate of Yaba College of Technology took up the mantle as pastor DK Olukoya’s interpreter in June 1993 up till date.
Pastor Lekan Akinbo’s huge impact in MFM can not be quantified, when MFM was about to start the printing press they needed more hands and according to MFM at 30 book, “For the press to function well, more staff and volunteer staff were injected into the system. Worthy of mention is pastor Lekan Akinbo, Pastor Ayo Oluwatosin, Mummy GO and Pastor Samuel who worked as a team to produce MFM books and other MFM publications”. He was also amongst the board of directors of Battle cry Christian Ministries, BCCM, the book ministry of MFM where all MFM books are published and distributed since when it was established in 1999.
Today, MFM gas grown in leaps and bounds through the word of God. Popularly called the Apostle of fire, Dr DK Olukoya founded MFM Church 30 years ago in 1989 at age 32 and the church has become a global phenomenon by the grace of God through his able leadership. Many people might know how MFM started but nobody knew how God called Pastor DK Olukoya. It will surprise you to know that God called Pastor Olukoya at age 20 though he did not start MFM Church until 12 years later. According to the G.O, the MFM was birthed by divine revelation. What makes this man of God unique as a Christian leader is his ability to marry his training as a world-class scientist and his scholarship as a researcher and academic with a divine calling as a prayer and deliverance minister.
Thus, he was raised in a Christian home with Christian beliefs coming from a CAC family. Throughout all his years in school, DKO was committed to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ. His passion for Jesus and his spiritual fire increased tremendously during his doctorate degree in the United Kingdom. DKO’s ministry is heavily influenced by the work of the late Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola, the founder of the CAC church. The works of Dr Daniel Olukoya are published by the Battle Cry Christian Ministries. These published works include over 250 life-changing Christian books (as at July 2015), audio tapes and CDs, video discs and many more.
