There is a new all female bouncers group in town celebrities now use at their parties. They are called the Dragon Squad. The squad which is made up of heavily built ladies has become so popular and a much talked about group. Their service at parties has received lots of attention and commendable remarks.
Many people salute their courage for making a mark in a male dominated sector. The job of bouncers at parties and social gatherings is a tedious one. It involves ensuring orderliness and security of guests’ demand. Therefore, they need to be fit and heavily built in order to measure up to the task as they also need to remain on their feet, standing and vigilant throughout the duration of events. Bouncers are usually well organized and disciplined. The Dragon Squad understands this and is doing greatly in that regard. No wonder, they are securing more jobs.
Speaking to a reputable media organization about the formation of the squad, Emem Thomas; the brain behind the group, narrated why the group was formed. Thomas who is a native of Akwa Ibom State and graduate of Biochemistry at the Cross Rivers State University of Technology described she recruits hefty women as her bouncers.
Below is the extract : ”My name is Emem Thomas. I am from Akwa Ibom State. I’m out to scout for women of plus size like me for bouncer work. I conceived the idea of setting up the all female bouncers when I attended an event and was impressed with the way I saw male bouncers well kitted and looking smart on the job. Then I thought it would be great having women on their kits do the job.
“I studied Biochemistry at the Cross Rivers State University of Technology. I graduated in 2015 and I didn’t get a job until 2017 when I was employed at a security company. I did my best to make the company grow from strength to strength. Then I introduced the idea of setting up an all female bouncers group to the company. Not long after, the female bouncers were disengaged. I wasn’t comfortable with that having recruited quite a number of them from their various houses. Then I thought it wise to do it on our own. So that was how I started the Dragon Squad group in 2018. “When people heard about all the female bouncers’ group, they did not take us seriously. They said all sorts of derogatory things to us. They said what are we going to dance at parties? Some of them even said we are lesbians. “I’m always vigilant and extra alert at events to ensure that my bouncers are not harassed. We have to protect ourselves as we protect others.
“On this job, I have been able to accomplish a lot of things. It is through this job that I take care of my family and run my other programmes. This job has taken me to places and on it, I have met top personalities.
“What made this Squad unique from that of the male bouncers is the ladies in my group are fat, beautiful, gallant, and above all understand the nature of the job. They have passion for the work they are doing. The first criterion I look for while recruiting ladies into my team is that they must be fat and smart. Then I look at their level of education.
“We have made the group so attractive that even our male counterpart now lobbies to join us but I told them in no way that the club is strictly for females. To join us, you have to be a female.
“We can also recruit ladies that are not really fat, only that they would go through some training to know how passionate they are about the job.
“We don’t go to the Gym. God has already endowed us with good bodies. All we do is to embark on a regular exercise to maintain the fitness level required for the job.
“Whenever I’m walking on the road and I see a lady who is plus size, I quickly approach her to ask her to join us. That is how I got any of my bouncers into the business. Some of them got convinced to join while some were reluctant.
