The annual Ojude Oba Festival is here again. After 2 years break, the festival will hold on Tuesday, 12th of July 2022 in Ijebu-Ode. Because of COVID-19, the festival could not hold on 2020 and 2021. And this year, it is returning with a BIG bang as many sons and daughters of Ijebu land will be gathering at Awujale’s Palace to pay homage to him, 3 days after Ileya Festival.
Who are the big women to watch out for at this year’s festival, you may ask? We can tell you. Year in, year out, some prominent Ijebu women usually attend and play prominent roles at this historic festival that usually records huge attendance. Some of them are big women who occupy key positions in the Ijebu Traditional council. They are Awujale’s titled Chiefs. Some are his Otunbas. Some are the Iyalodes, Iya Egbes and key officers of the various Age Grade groups.
Let’s tell you about them. One of them is Chief (Mrs.) Bisi Osibogun, the Iyalode of Ijebu. She was made the Iyalode of Ijebu 2 years ago by the Awujale. She is a valued member of the Ojude Oba Planning Committee.
There is also the Iyalaje of Ijebuland, Alhaja Korede Alatishe. They usually travel down to Nigeria to celebrate Ileya and Ojude Oba.
Yeye Olayinka is the Iya Egbe Bobadega Okunrin Akile Ijebu. There is also Chief Mrs Iyabo Ninalowo, the Aso Oke Fabric merchant. There are also members of the prestigious Egbe Tobalase Obinrin Obalofin Akile Ijebu.

Iyalode Abiola Basanya is the head of Egbe Obayori Obinrin Akile Ijebu. (1977-1979) she has been entrusted with the leadership of the Egbe since 28th June 2019.
