Sir Kingsley is a Rapper, Singer, Songwriter, Actor and all-around Entertainer. He creates sounds with lots of emotions and in this interview, he states that most of the things he talks about in his songs are his personal life experiences.
The rapper who hails from Auchi, in Etsako West LGA of Edo state, says he gets inspiration from his environment and his debut EP, ‘Rise Of The Phoenix (Vol.1)’ which was released on February 20 is a testament to his artistry.
The EP, which is currently on all digital stores consisting of four tracks, has been getting lots of airplay and impressive reviews both locally and internationally.
Asked to define his sound, Sir Kingsley in his own words said ‘I hate being boxed, I do not consider myself as an artist that can be boxed, I make all types of music, I infuse different sounds and genres to create magic, everything boils down to the inspiration I feel at every given time. I will make music on any sound, beats or Genre. Maybe my music can be labeled as Afro-Everything’ he said with a charming smile accompanied with laughter.
And one listens to his EP confirms that to be true, as he raps braggadocious on the opening track ‘Clear Road’ on a beat reminiscent of Southern American Hip Hop, where he announced himself and declared his intention to own his spot in the ever-growing entertainment industry, he is ready for a fight if that’s what it’s going to take.
The second track ‘Story’ takes us down memory lane as he chronicles the difficulty life has thrown at him as a kid growing up with his grandmother back in his hometown. The track acknowledges the struggles but is grateful to be where he is now.
If you think what life has thrown at him has made him lose touch with his emotional side, then you just might be wrong as the third track which is fast becoming a crowd favourite and club banger, serenades his lover with assurances of his love and affection; ‘Addicted’ he titles it.
On the fourth track which is also the closing song on the EP, Sir Kingsley took his listeners to the church where he directed all thanks to his maker. Knowing where he is coming from and seeing where he is at now, we can’t help but agree that it’s indeed a ‘Victory’ for him and those who have been through the same route.
‘Rise Of The Phoenix (Vol.1)’ is an impressive body of work and all indices point to the fact that Sir Kingsley is here to stay.
Asked what is in store for his fans for the rest of the year, he said he plans on releasing more songs and possibly his debut Album before the close of the year.
Gracing every available stage to entertain and connect with his fans is also top on his list. The sky is looking like the beginning for him.
