Meet The New Lady OONI Is Getting Married To

•The Story Of Princess TEMITOPE ADESEGUN

Right now, the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi will be bubbling of actitivitued as he will be marrying another wife today. The pretty lady is Princess Temitope Adesegun. The lady has been a recurring decimal in Ooni’s life since 2017. When Ooni floated an NGO Hope Alive Initiative in 2017 under the auspices and management of House of Oduduwa, Princess Temitope was made the Deputy Convener. For those who don’t know Temitope Adesegun, she is going to be the 6th wife of Ooni of Ife after he married 5 in quick successions within 4 weeks. Princess Temitope is a highly influential woman in business and management.

She is one of the very few ladies Ooni is close to that he bought cars for and made public. He bought her a white Mercedes Benz and Black Range Rover and was presented to her by Ooni’s close ally, Segun Dagiloke, the MD of Mobil Station in Ile Ife.

Earlier this year, on her birthday, in March 27 ,the pretty princess was celebrated on the social media page of Ooni of Ife, on Facebook, he wrote, while uploading her picture, “happy birthday to a rare gem, precious princess, icon of selfless service. special Royal congratulatory greetings to the indefatigable deputy Convener and CEO of Hopes Alives Initiatives, HAI, an epitome of selfless service to the needy,a royal ambassador of note,a benevolent humanitarian and great woman of enviable substance who has by her pragmatic executive leadership and management of the NGO adding values to humanity through the house of Oduduwa. The congratulatory message was signed for by Otunba Moses Olafare, the Director, Media and Public affairs, Ooni’s palace.

In year 2018, when Olori Wuraola, Ooni’s wife then after he became king, left the palace, the news had gone round that Princess Temitope Adesegun will become the new Queen. Infact many already chose Princess Temitope as the right Olori because of her closeness to Ooni of Ife but in reacting to the news, Prince Jide Fadairo, the CEO of House of Oduduwa Foundation and husband of Princess Folasade, the monarch’s eldest sister, debunked the story then and said that was a fairy tale gone too far. “Ooni’s marriage cannot be done secretly, it involves not only the Royal family, it involves Yoruba custom and a lot of elders and our tradition are to be taken into cognisance. Please dismiss the story, it is another fake news.”

“The Palace advises the media to verify from the Palace before publication.” Prince Fadairo said the time is not propitious for the monarch who is immersed in the renaissance of Yoruba Culture and promotion of the race’s customs and traditions globally. “That’s not on His Imperial Majesty’s mind.Marriage is not something he wants to do right away. Many names have been bandied around but I can tell you they are all false, just like this case.” But few years later, Princess Temitope has finally become the Queen.

Temitope Adesegun would be undergoing her 2nd missionary journey in marriage with the Oonirisa, as she had been married before till about 2017 or thereabout. She’s had extensive work experience in both the public and private sectors and she is a director of the Hope Alive Initiative of the Ooni. She’s a gorgeous beauty with brain and a fashionista too.

Scaling the heights to get to a point of development and growth is no mean feat. Anyone who could have met Ms. Temitope Adesegun in 1998 when she had bagged a diploma in Linguistics may not have had an inkling that she would rise to the corridors of where she strides on confidently now.

Widely revered in management, Ms. Temitope Adesegun bagged diplomas in Linguistics and Data Processing from the University of Lagos in 1998 and 2000 respectively and a Bachelors’ in Business Administration from the same university. She enjoyed a private sector career as an administrative executive and public relations officer at several organisations. In 2009, Ms. Adesegun became the Personal Assistant to the Secretary to the Lagos State Government: Princess Adenrele Adeniran-Ogunsanya; a position she managed till the end of her political tenure in 2011.

With commitment to public service and sheer determination to making positive impact; Ms. Adesegun became the anchor and host of the Lagos State Ministry of Health Public Health Advocacy Program: Health-Wise which aired for 4 years to propagate appropriate information and improve knowledge of the 20 million residents in Lagos on Public health challenges faced in the state. The programme engaged leaders and stakeholders in the Lagos State Health System to tackle the impact of several public health threats in Lagos.

She is a certified alumnus of the following universities: University of Oxford, United Kingdom, INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau, France, University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, United Kingdom and Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the United States. Ms. Adesegun has developed a strong commitment to development; an advocate of the now rested Millennium Development Goals and determined proponent of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Her consummate experience in health and development has seen her through several duties as a leader.

Currently, she leads the working team of the Hopes Alive Initiative under the Auspices and Management of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II through the House of Oduduwa Foundation.

Temitope is a vibrant and result focused professional with over 15 years progressive experience as a public administrator at several levels and leader in health and other developmental communications and advocacy strategies.
