Winner of 2019 edition of the Big Brother Naija show (BBNaija), Mercy Eke, has received the monetary prize of N30 million and an SUV from Innoson Motors, Nigerian automaker.
Chief executive of Multichoice, John Ugbe, the operators of the BBNaija franchise, arrived Lagos on Tuesday to address the press and present the reality TV star her gifts at the MultiChoice office and venue of the reality show in Ilupeju.
While speaking at the event, Ugbe expressed his gratitude to Endemol, the owners of the Big Brother brand, as well as all parties involved in the show’s production.
He also announced that a team had arrived the commercial city to inspect the BBNaija house and deemed it the best.
“Endemol came in to inspect (the house) and they gave us feedback. One, we have the biggest Big Brother House in the world. But, at times, maybe bigger is not best. But we have the best Big Brother House in the world,” he said
Mercy won the show after securing 41.77 per cent of the votes to beat Mike, who got 19.94 per cent.
Aside from the vehicle and monetary prize, Mercy is expected to get a trip for two to Dubai; a home make-over, courtesy Scanfrost; a year’s supply of Pepsi and One Africa Fest VVIP experience; a year’s supply of Indomie noodles and Munch it.
Also included is a brand new Oppo mobile smartphone and a bonus prize of two VIP tickets to watch a live European football final game.
In an interview with Ebuka Uchendu, BBNaija host, Mercy had disclosed how she had auditioned four times in a row to become a housemate and the preparatory measures she had taken despite not being sure she would make it to the house.
“I auditioned four times in a row. And, from that moment, I had already started getting myself ready without being paid or knowing id I’ll get in because I wouldn’t wanna be caught unawares. I was getting closed on, counting Sundays if I make it,” she had said.
“I just wanted to give them back to back. I wanted to be me. I didn’t come to Big Brother because everyone else was coming. I came to make a statement and leave a mark.”
