It was indeed, a very busy week for Nollywood sweethearts, Okiki Afolayan and his pretty wife, Abimbola Ogunnowo, as both finally tied the knot. The social media has been very busy as different celebrities display their photograph on their Instagram handles. The week started off for the couple, as very close friends and senior colleagues in the industry organised a bridal shower for the beautiful actress on Friday, 29th September, at Magodo. The actress was caught unaware, as the entire event was planned and organised without her knowing anything about it. It was, indeed, a well organised and classy bridal shower and Nollywood actresses like Fathia Williams, who is like a big sister to the actress, was part of the organisers of the event. Other actresses present at the bridal shower included Mercy Aigbe, Tayo Sindodo, Kemi Korede, Folorunsho Adeola, Bidemi Kosoko, Bimbo Thomas, Regina Chukwu, Tope Solaja, Bukky Adeoye, Lizzy Da Silva, Nkechi Blessing among others. Their beautiful pink outfit and purple hair accessories capped with a well-decorated venue made a statement. They made sure the bride had fun of her life as a spinster for the last time, before finally tying the knot. She couldn’t curtail her joy, which she displayed on her Instagram handle to express her gratitude to the organisers of the bridal shower. According to her “this is an emotional time for me! those moments I couldn’t control my tears of joy!! priceless moments well spent with family members and friends. I always thought I was so smart that nothing gets to me without me knowing, but yesterday I got to know that you can’t be too smart for your loved ones.
I was shocked beyond measures. They got me. I couldn’t even do any makeover, I was super happy, I cried (tears of joy). I couldn’t even eat because I got to know how blessed I am. Thank you my big mummys, sisters, childhood friends, colleagues God bless you all. To every penny that was raised to surprise this imperfect Bimbo, I will forever appreciate it.
Five days after the bridal shower, the newest couple was at Ikoyi Registry to exchange their vows. The two were the 8th couple of the day to take their vows. The beautiful couple got to the venue very early. Trust the ever smiling, stylish and fashionista Bimbo Ogunnowo, she was looking like a queen in an off-white featherish beautiful gown, but the rain didn’t allow her to display her outfit perfectly, as she was seen often packing the down part of her outfit, so it won’t get stained by the rainwater on the floor. While the groom, Okiki Afolayan, wore a Navy blue suit, with a wine tie to complement it, the couple sure looked good together. The groom’s mother was present, while the father who happened to be late was represented. The Bride’s parents were both present at the registry.
The initial registration of the couple started about 8:30 am, afterwards, they were moved to another hall for registration proper. They also went through counselling on what marriage entails, the need to be patient, tolerant and submissive before it could work and also that once the dotted lines are signed, they both don’t have right to go into another marriage, so they were both advised to have a rethink, before signing the dotted lines and exchanging vows, if that is what they really wanted. They both accepted all the terms and conditions. So they were joined, exchanged rings, and the necessary certificate was signed.
All through the programme, the pretty bride and the groom wore smiles on their faces. The bride’s father Alhaji Ogunnowo, indeed, stole the show. He could not curtail his joy, he kept spraying the couples although as if money was going out of fashion. Even, when the bride was asked to take photographs, the father just kept spraying her money, and the mother was not left behind.
Between Bidemi Kosoko and Deola Folorunsho, these two beautiful Nollywood actresses, maintain a very cordial relationship with the bride, and this, they displayed all through, the event. They were both the main organisers of the bridal shower and they were also the only two actresses present, at the registry for the court wedding. When the lawyer who presided over the marriage, asked someone to sing during the registry session, Bidemi sang a beautiful song. They were both at the beck and call of the bride. They were both the maids of honour for the beautiful bride.
As earlier reported Movie Director, Okiki Afolayan, and Bimbo Ogunnowo have been dating for years and both have become like brother and sister. So, they are the 2 lovebirds whom practically everyone in the industry knows their story. Their wedding, no doubt, is one of the best Nollywood has witnessed, Okiki is a filmmaker, scriptwriter and a multi-award winner. He was born and raised in Mushin part of Lagos State. A native of Omu Aran in Kwara State. He started his career as a Continuity Manager in 1999, under the tutelage of Mr Olumide Adedayo, after which he delved into movie directing.
He earned a lot of recommendations and recognition through his first film entitled Mr Kola in 2010. He went fully into directing, and he has lost counts of movies he has directed. He is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential directors in this generation. Bimbo Ogunnowo is the CEO of Extreme Beauty Place located in Egbeda, which houses a boutique, cosmetics and makeover with high standard facilities. She is, indeed, blessed with beauty and brains. She is one of the actresses rocking the entertainment scene, she produced her first movie in 2009 and has featured in movies like Eldorado, Ifejafunmi, Ajoge, Ifeofoju to mention a few.
