NBTI and REEEA-A establish strategic partnership to propel Nigeria’s renewable energy innovation

by Reporter

In a significant advancement aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Nigeria’s Renewable Energy Strategy, the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) has formed a partnership with the Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Association Alliance (REEEA-A).

This collaboration aims to promote innovation, local manufacturing, and capacity development within the renewable energy sector. Ultimately, it seeks to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to clean energy while enhancing climate resilience and fostering sustainable economic growth.

The partnership was solidified during a high-level visit by REEEA-A Vice President, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, to NBTI’s headquarters in Abuja, where she commended NBTI for integrating skill acquisition into Nigeria’s incubation ecosystem. She highlighted the nation’s vast renewable energy potential and the critical role of community incubation programs in training and empowering renewable energy entrepreneurs across the country.

Responding, NBTI’s Director General/CEO, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, reaffirmed the NBTI’s unwavering commitment to harnessing Nigeria’s solar and wind resources through indigenous technology development. He underscored the importance of producing high-quality, locally made renewable energy solutions to reduce dependence on substandard imports, enhance energy security, and position Nigeria as a leader in Africa’s green economy.

Dr. Raji also highlighted NBTI’s extensive nationwide presence, with incubation centres across 36 states of the Federation, 6 regional offices and 15 additional extension offices, serving as hubs for cutting-edge research, development, and commercialization of renewable energy, agritech, electromechanical and emerging technologies. He invited REEEA-A to establish a pilot renewable energy production centre within NBTI’s network, pledging full support with infrastructure, technical expertise, and commercialization pathways.

This strategic partnership marks a major step toward transforming Nigeria from a mere consumer of renewable energy technologies into a global powerhouse for clean energy innovation and manufacturing. With a shared vision and commitment, NBTI and REEEA-A are set to turn ideas into action, advancing Nigeria’s climate agenda, fostering industrialization, and driving sustainable economic prosperity for Africa’s future.
