Nigerian Institute Of Building Holds 2021 Builders’ Annual Conference/AGM in Lagos

On Thursday 26th August 2021, The Banquet hall of D’ Podium Event Centre in Ikeja, Lagos was filled to the brim as Professional builders across Nigeria converged in Lagos for their 51st Annual Conference for 4 days. The event which attracted delegates from all over the 36 state chapters plus the FCT began on Monday 23rd and ended on a colourful note on Thursday with the dinner All the members and elders of the institute observed all the COVID-19 protocols, as the 51st builders’ annual conference dinner and award night was held on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

The event which had the theme Advancing Technologies, Systems and Standards For Sustainable Building Construction was put together by The Nigerian Institute of Building, NIOB. It had all the big shots in the real estate and property sector in attendance and issues that concern reputation conservation and sustenance were discussed.

The event had executives from every chapter across the country, who came to witness the historic handover between the outgoing executive and the incoming team. The event was classy and well organised.
Early guests were treated to a classic saxophone session, by Seyi Sax who held spellbound everyone on their seats, as they enjoyed various classical Jazzy tunes from the archive of the oldies tune. The combination between the saxophonist and DJ Matino was on point and they got the event set for optimal refreshment.

Major Vibes Band was also on stand-by for a live performance.
The event was anchored by a professional builder with an exceptional oratory vibe, Ayodeji Odudeji and was co-hosted by Builder Akin.

There were other sessions of live entertainment by the Lagos Eyo dance troupe and the Hausa traditional dancers who kept the guest glued to their seats.

Speaking at the event, the outgoing President, Builder Kunle Awobodu commended his team for taking the institute to the next level and implored the incoming executives to preserve the professional pastime of the institute. He reiterated his trust in the new executive and urged the members of the institute to support the new executive members.

Prof. Yohana D Izam, the new president also charged the new team to brace for landmark projects that lie ahead. He pledged to give his best in preserving the pastime of the institute and to erect standard offices across the states, where necessary. Prof. Yohana Izam is also a serving Vice-chancellor of Plateau State University.

Prof. KABIRU BALA, the chairman of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), expressed his delight in how the institute has expanded over the years and encourage every member to keep the pace ad momentum.

The event was well attended by many builders from across the country including Francis Ogbonna,

Olusola Awoyemi MP, Adeiye Olufemi Adeleke, Ibiyemi Akin, Ayodele Olowookere, Femi Fola Olowofoyekan, Vincent Essien, Gbenga Osunshina, Ayo Ogunsola
and many more.

The institute appreciated Olufemi Samson, Philip Nkechi, and Prince Paul, and the Institute staff of the month.
