Today, Friday, 29th March, 2019, Nigeria’s first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN), Chief Folake Solanke, is 87 years old. I wish her a happy birthday and many happy seasons of sound health, joy, honour and contentment, amen

Chief Solanke’s firsts in life achievements included her being the:

*First female Commissioner in 1972, in Western State of Nigeria’s Cabinet of retired Brigadier-General Oluwole Rotimi

*First and only female Chair of Africa’s 1st television station, the Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) commissioned on 31st October,1959, by the then Premier of Western Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, and the sister radio station, the Western Nigeria Broadcasting Service (WNBS 1960)

*First female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (1981)

*First Yeye mofin of Ife (1981)

*First Governor of District 18 (Africa) Zonta International(1982

*First non-Caucasian International President of the Zonta International (1994)
