On Saturday 17th June 2023, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon held his 6th Year Installation Thanksgiving. He commissioned his ultra modern palace. The event was well attended.

For those who are not familiar with Orile-Igbon lets tell you a little about this historic town. Orile Igbon is an ancient town in Oyo State, in the Ogbomoso community. The Kingdom regained its momentum of leadership and has currently been elevated to having a First-class Monarch in Ogbomosho

zone, Surulere Local Government. Simultaneously he is the Deputy Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs. Under him are over 70 Baales and junior Obas, and almost 200 villages and communities under his supervision, superintending their diverse places; all of whom are within the domain of His Imperial Majesty (HIM) Oba Olushola Francis Alao, who ascended the throne of his forebearers on 15th of July, 2017.

Consequently, the amiable traditional ruler, HIM Oba Olushola Francis Alao, though born in Ibadan in 1963, grew up in the Northern part of Nigeria, Jos, Plateau State. Where he had both primary and secondary schools’ education before he proceeded to the University of Liberia in Monrovia. He acquired a SSC in Accounting, and later worked with many accounting in Executive capacity Sehive Incorporation, Monrovia, Liberia. And later became a consultant in both Liberia and Nigeria as an ECOMOG sub-Contractor in terms of supply of foodstuff to ECOMOG Forces. Also a Contractor to major Military formations in Nigeria, which also includes the Defense Intelligence Agency {DIAL Nigerian Air Force, etc. He pioneered the deployment of masts for communication outfits like MTN/AIRTEL and was involved in Laying of fibres (Fibre Optics) throughout Nigeria. HIM Oba Olushola Alao honorably used his wealth of experience to establish Oyo Towers (Oyo Towers is a telecoms infrastructure company on PPP-Public Private Partnership, platform which he created to regulate all telecoms operators activities in Oyo State).

Essentially, Oba Olushola Francis Alao is most concerned with the peace, prosperity and progress of our beloved Country Nigeria. He is a man of intense wisdom. He is endowed with exceptional abilities for conflict resolution. This came to play in the last election dispensation by consulting with other Elders and Political Leaders across the country to ensure that power returns to the southern part of Nigeria. Though a professional Accountant, he is also actively involved with various businesses and has interests in Mining, Oil and Gas, Construction, Farming etc. Additionally, it is worthy of mention that, the ancient town of Orile Igbon plays home to the best Cashew nuts and Mangos grown in agricultural areas, where it easily germinates within a shorter time frame compared to anywhere else in the World.

Likewise, Orile Igbon is a traditional Cassava planting town with its vast arable land, bearing in mind that it is also naturally endowed with abundant gold mines towards the region of Orile,lseyin-lgbeti area.

Therefore, all these are summed up in the vision and statement of the current Olugbon, Oba Olushola

Francis Alao, when he insisted that Orile Igbon under his outstanding stewardship must become a conglomerate of industrial communities with Billions of Naira including hard currency Investment projected forthetown. All these attributes and more are pointers to the fact that Orile Igbon is practically in very safe and capable hands for business investors of all fronts.

As a fulfilled family man, His Imperial Majesty is married to a retired Banker and an ordained RCCG Pastor. Olori Olusola Adedoyin Alao, a former Bank Managing Director. They are blessed with children.

Let’s also tell you about the Olugbon royalty. Many don’t know that the Olugbon Obaship is a direct descendant of Oduduwa, the progenitor of Yoruba race. Olugbon Ese is the direct descendant of lIe-lfe. While lIe-lfe was getting congested, it became incumbent of the first Alaafin called Oranmiyan to lead hisyounger brothers out of lIe-lfe in the early 11th century to found the defunct Oyo Empire. The younger brothers who left lIe-lfe with the Alaafin Oranmiyan in order of seniority were Olugbon Ese, Aresa and Onikoyi, These three were indeed the Provincial Kings of Oyo Empire; and it is erstwhile various domains later known Obas also grew.

Right now, by the fortuitous historical antecedent, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Francis Olushola Alao, Akinbola 1 is a Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs and rightly and traditionally the next in rank to the Alaafin of Oyo.

The ancient Olugbon comprises of almost 200 towns and villages. Orile-Igbon King Makers claim “the Ancients” guided their wisdom of choice in crowing Oba (Dr.) Francis Olushola Alao. Olugbon domain, since the installation of Oba Olushola Alao has witnessed visible unprecedented rapid developments. He has single-handedly turned and is still turning his domain to a cynosure of all eyes through his God-given dexterity and wisdom. It is noteworthy to express that Kabiyesi Olushola Alao is an Accountant by profession. Kabiyesi believes in the sanctity of History, hard work and fairness in all endeavors. His favorite saying and Mantra is “Cut you r coat according to your size”.

OYO STATE

AND NIGERIA

As a first class monarch who is also a Vice Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs and Chairman Surulere Local Government Traditional Council, he has contributed in no small measure both verbally and in writing to advocate for the well-being of Obas and Chiefs in the State, as well as the economic and political stability of Oyo State in particular and good welfare of the citizenry in general. As a member of National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) his contribution cannot be overlook.

Since Kabiyesi’s installation and assumption of duty as the 22nd Olugbon of Orile-lgbon, he has worked meritoriously with two governors: late Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi and His Excellency, Engineer Abiodun Seyi Makinde. Kabiyesi has no doubt served two of them ‘both late and living’ to the best of his ability as an educated Oba whose wealth of experience over the years cannot be quantified in gold or money, it’s selfless. It is on record that, the two governors respected Kabiyesi Olugbon’s contributions, thoughts and opinions on the running of the affairs of the state. Equally, Kabiyesi Olugbon’s impacts to see that the current President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a Yoruba in the person of His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is on record.
