It was a colourful introduction ceremony on Sunday, 27th January, 2020, when Kehinde Daniel, the beautiful daughter of former Ogun Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) & his beautiful wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel introduced her husband to be to her family. That was the day her family members formally met Debola Williams, the CEO of Red Media Africa. Because of the pandemic, OGD decided to make use of his Maryland residence as venue for the ceremony. In line with the Covid-19 protocol, he only invited a few guests. The ceremony was classy, as many distinguished Nigerians attended. Below is the report of the event.
ABOUT THE VENUE
The venue was the sprawling house of OGD at Maryland, Lagos. It is called Daniel’s Court. The magnificient edifice was built in 1996 on a large expanse of land, with trees and flowers. It also has a Swimming pool. A marque was erected in a corner of the compound. The marque could sit about 200 guests. Only family members and VVIPs were allowed into the marque manned by bouncers.
ABOUT THE BRIDE
The bride, Kenny, is a beautiful and stylish babe like her mum. She is the only daughter of OGD. She is her mother’s look alike. She has a strong facial resemblance with her mum. Her slim physique, however, makes the difference.
ABOUT THE GROOM
Adebola Williams is a dashing Lagos big boy, who is into Marketing Communications business. He is a tall and handsome businessman with global tentacles. He consults for international clients.
THE BRIDE’S FATHER LOOKED STYLISH
Otunba Gbenga Daniel dresses well all the time. Since his days as a corporate player and top Manager at Shroeder, he has always worn the best suits. When he became a politician he began to wear more of traditional outfits.
He is always stylish, whether in Traditional or English wears. He is a man of sartorial elegance. At the Introduction, on Sunday he looked dashing in his coffee-brown Luxury Velvet Agbada which was richly embroidered. He wore a richly designed cap to match. He wore a black designer shoe and had a long Gold Chain on. His wife wore the same velvet fabric.
ABOUT GROOM’S FATHER & MUM
The groom’s father, Chief Williams, was very happy on that day. Dressed in all-white agbada with coral accessories to match, He looked great and he danced to reveal his joy and happiness on the day. His wife also looked dashing.
THE CHOICE BAND DAZZLES
On band stand was The Choice Band, which is a band that was born when OGD was Ogun governor. OGD liked to dance to its beats during his tenure as Ogun Governor. The band Chairman, Prince Abiodun Adebayo Adegoroye thrilled guests with a variety of sweet and sonorous tunes. So sweet was his music that both OGD and his wife danced to some of his songs.
ABOUT OLU OKEOWO (JNR) & FRIENDS
Not many people know that Construction giant, Sir Olu Okeowo has a look-alike son, who is fast taking after him. He was chauffered-driven into the venue in a sparkling black ESCALADE. He wore a flowing Agbada. He sat in the garden with some of his friends, made up of rich kids. He is close to Taiwo Daniel, the twin brother of the bride.
TRANSPORT MINISTER, ROTIMI AMAECHI CAME
Many people don’t know that OGD and Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi are close. We can tell you that for sure. They are. He was at the introduction and stayed for over 2hrs before he headed for the airport to go back to Abuja. He looked very stylish in his all-white South-South rose.
YEYE OLUFUNKE DANIEL STEALS SHOW @ DAUGHTERS WEDDING
It is very unusual to have the host of a party or a ceremony steal the show at her own event. That was what happened at Kenny Daniel’s introduction, as her mother dazzled in her outfit. Don’t forget that she is a very fashionable and stylish woman. She is a top fashion designer and she still has her shop in Lagos.
When she was Ogun 1st Lady for 8 years, she really made style statements and other 1st Ladies had to look up to her for style. She has not stopped. She has not slowed down 9 years after. She has remained the Queen of Style that she has always been.
IT WAS A GALAXY OF KINGS
Many Ogun Obas like OGD. Apart from having been nice to them when he was Governor, he kept his relationship with them intact. And he constantly calls them to say hello from time to time. No wonder a lot of those who could make it did like the Ewusi of Makun, the Alaperu of Iperu and many more. The Olu Odonselu came.
OGUN 1ST LADY STEPS UP HER STYLE
Ogun 1st Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun is a stylish woman. She dresses well to events and parties. She knows what fits her lovely frame and flatters it with lovely outfits. When she got down from the black jeep that brought her into the space in front of the marque, she looked elegant and radiant. Those 2 have always been her signature style. Anytime you see her she always looks elegant and radiant. She radiates warmth. She knows what to wear to what event. She is simple in her dressing, but classy. She is not loud. As her official car approached the venue, Yeye Olufunke Daniel was already waiting to receive her. The 2 stylish women embraced themselves and the new Ogun 1st Lady was ushered in, not without showing Yeye courtesy in her greeting to her senior age. Many noted that courtesy and this made many respect her the move.
ALL EYES WERE ON ELEMUREN WHEN HIS CONVOY DROVE IN
One king who stood out amongst the others is Oba Adesegun Bolaji Alowonle, the Elemuren of Emuren. He is a new Oba in Ogun State. He was appointed the Elemuren of Emuren in Sagamu LGA on 11th August, 2020. He is a Permanent Member of Ogun State Council of Obas and a member of Remo Traditional Council.
He came in a glittering black brand of Jeep and a Hiace escort truck.
OMOTOLA, OMAWUMI TOKE MAKINWA & OMAWUNMI ATTENDED
A lot of young celebrities attended the ceremony to support both Kenny & Adebola. Toke Makinwa stormed the event in a wine dress, so also Omawumi, the singer.
OGD’S FRIENDS ATTENDED
Mr. Stan Adeyeni and the bride’s father OGD are great friends. They have been friends from way back. He not only attended the ceremony, he stayed till the very end. He had his own table where he sat.
Construction giant, Demola Odutola was also there. He and OGD come way back. They belong to Egbe Bobakeye Akile Ijebu.
OGD’S POLITICAL ASSOCIATES NOT LEFT OUT
The bride’s father, OGD surely exercised great restraint not to show how influential he is politically, in his choice of invitees. This is because if he didn’t, the venue would have been filled with politicians drawn from all the parties. But still, a few top politicians came.
His deputy, Alhaja Salaman Badru came. So also GNI. He was one of OGD’s boys, in those good old days before he moved on politically. But he has not forgotten his political godfather. He was there all through the event.
DEBOLA WILLIAMS SHOWED HIS ROMANTIC SIDE
Not many people know that the groom, Debola Williams is very romantic. It took falling in love with Kenny Daniel to bring out the very best in him. Ever since they met months back its been showers of love all the way from Debola who proposed to her on a boat cruise and later wrote a poem to celebrate her. At the ceremony, the Alaga Iduro asked the couple to tell guests what they saw in each other.
BJ SAX THRILLED GUESTS
There is hardly any celebrity party that would hold today without BJ Sax not being part of it with his sax. It is as if no traditional wedding is complete without BJ Sax being there blowing the sax. He was actively involved at this wedding. He ushered in both the groom and the bride with sonorous tunes from his sax.
Many thought his good friend and colleagues, Laolu Gbenjo was around to collaborate with him. But he wasn’t.
GROOM’S LOVE FOR RED
Everyone who knows Debola very well knows that he loves colour red. So in love is he with the red colour that he chose to call his company Red Media Africa. Officially, he wears redcaps on his traditional outfits, which are mostly white.
At the event, all his friends wore white and red caps to match.
THE POEM HE WROTE FOR HIS BEAU
My Tylenol when I’m in pain. The best 2020 blessing one could gain. Loving you more and more gives me all the joy I could desire. Daily you set my soul on fire, Renew my faith in why I want to build with you an empire Kehinde, I love you for reasons you’ve never been told, like magic it burns my soul.
My star girl, My bright like diamond baby, My oxygen, Thank you for all the joy you have brought to our lives, the love and care, softness and safety, organisation, clarity and even more that you will bring to our home in Jesus name, amen. I thank you.
Our souls have been waiting a lifetime to meet and our hearts finally met. You are my answered prayer.
