OGD RECONCILES WITH ALAKE OF EGBALAND

by City People
OGD, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Dapo Abiodun Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun State,

Towards his last days in office as Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s relationship with the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo was not too cordial. Both got caught up in the ethnic and political differences that rocked that era.

Of course, OGD despite the fact that he attended BBHS along with Oba Aremu Gbadebo in Abeokuta, he was seen as an Ijebu person who didn’t like the Egbas and those who wanted the differences escalated made sure that the 2 leaders didn’t get to see eye-to-eye.

So bad did the issue become that there were rumours that the Otunba Gbenga Daniel government was going to depose the Alake who was accused of supporting Senator Ibikunle Amosun (an Egba) who wanted to take over from OGD. One thing led to another and OGD’s relationship with the Alake became frosty.

We can now tell you authoritatively that the relationship between OGD and Alake has become very cordial. The agelong differences between the 2 have been mended.

One evidence of this was the reception that OGD hosted in honour of the Alake last Sunday inside his new hotel in Abeokuta.
