OGD’s chief of staff, Dr. Babatunde Onadeko celebrates 60 years of God’s faithfulness

Right now, as you read this, top banker, Dr. Babatunde Onadeko is in a happy mood. It is his 60th birthday, and he is thanking God for all he has done for him. For those who don’t know, let’s quickly tell you a lot more about this easygoing gentleman who is Senator Gbenga Daniel‘s Chief of Staff.

Born 9th July 1963, to the ONADEKO family of Atikori, Ijebu-Igbo, his Father was late, Pa. A.B. Onadeko who died in 1982 (41 years ago). His mother was late Mrs. Wuraola Adunke Onadeko who died in 1973 (50 years ago).
He attended Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo. Unfortunately, as an orphan, proceeding then to the university immediately was a challenge. He was lucky to have secured a job as a clerk at Wema Bank in 1985.
Resolute to succeed and with focus, perseverance, and doggedness, he sponsored himself, all through and today, parade the following academic qualifications:
BSc. (2nd Class Upper Division) in Banking & Finance from the then Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye;
Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the then Ogun State University in 2002;
MSc. in International Finance from Babcock University in 2014 and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business Administration from Babcock University in 2018.

PROFESSIONALLY:
He became a Chartered Banker when he passed all the prescribed examinations with distinction and qualified as an ASSOCIATE, Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB). In 2020, he was elected a FELLOW, Enterprise Risk Professionals (FERP) – The foremost professional body for risk management practice in Nigeria.
In 2021, he applied, met all criteria, and was granted a Practice License/Seal as a banking and finance consultant by CIBN. In 2022, with other eminently qualified banking executives across Nigeria, he was elected a FELLOW, Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), the highest membership status of the banking profession.

He held several management positions both at WEMA BANK and FCMB for many years, during which he set up new branches for the banks. He was, for a long period of time, the Chairman of the Bankers Forum in Ogun State.
Until 2019, he was the FCMB Zonal Head for South West and supervised all the branches in Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti States.
Since 2020, to date, Dr. Onadeko has been a member of the Capacity Building and Certification Committee of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
In 2021, he was appointed the Chief of Staff to the former Governor of Ogun State, now a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng.
In 2022, the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) approved the appointment of Dr. Babatunde Onadeko as a NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR on the board of Veritas Glanvills Pension (VGP), one of the Top Ranking Pension Funds Administrators in Nigeria.
Dr. Onadeko is an alumnus of the prestigious London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) (course 2019) where he distinguished himself among the students from other countries. He is a committed family man and a responsible father to his children, some of whom are also graduates from Babcock University and are doing well overseas and are the same with others here at home.
Happy birthday to this complete gentleman who many refer to as an Omoluabi.
