The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has congratulated the Publisher of Citypeople Magazine, Dr Seye Kehinde on the 25th anniversary of the magazine.
In his congratulatory message, the Olubadan refered to Seye Kehinde as his son and commend his doggedness and passion which has kept brand going for 25 years and counting.
He wrote:
My dear son,
It is my honour and pleasure to rejoice with you on the 25th anniversary of City People Magazine.
As monarch and businessman, I know how difficult it is to set up business and nurture it to growth and development. City People Magazine which you set up twenty five years ago is not even an ordinary business like merchandising, banking, finance, insurance, buying and selling.
It is a creative enterprise where you have to harness human and material resources to achieve set goals.
In the print media industry in Nigeria, infant mortality rate is very high. The social media is baring its fangs while the reading culture is failing, but as the readers purchasing power is dropping.
Amid these diverse challenges, I salute the vision that birthed City People. I salute your doggedness in the face of odds. I salute your innovation and passion for the cause of informing, educating and entertaining. It is not surprising that City People is a household name in the country. I salute your immediate family for the sacrifice of your presence. I salute the City People family as a whole.
On behalf of the Olubadan-in-Council, senior chiefs, other chiefs, Baales and the entire people of Ibadanland, I rejoice with you on the 25th Anniversary of City People Magazine.
You will go forward and become bigger and better.
