Installed As Maye Onijaye of Ijaye-Orile
Popular Ibadan-based fashion designer and CEO of Opulence Creation and Outfits, Alhaji Bashir Babatunde Azeez Akande, aka Ike Bashir, on Saturday 12 October 2024, hosted the creme de la creme of the society to a classy and colourful reception.
The event, held at the Function Hall of Jogor Events Centre, Ibadan, was to celebrate Bashir’s installation as Mogaji Olorin Family and the Maye Onijaye of Ijaye-Orile in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo.
Earlier, family, friends, and associates had accompanied the new chief to Ijaye, where he was officially coronated with the two chieftaincy titles by the Onijaiye of Ijaye-Orile, His Royal Highness, Oba Lasisi Oladimeji Akano (Alemulera1).
The coronation and the reception were both very well attended. There was an impressive turnout of top celebrities at the party, despite the short notice. It’s safe to say that if there had been more notice, it would have been a carnival-like event, given Bashir’s popularity and connections, which span across business, corporate, and social circles.
Aside from this, the fashion entrepreneur also has something working for him-he’s a very likeable man. He’s very humble and has a great sense of humour too. He has made it a habit to have a relationship that transcends business with his clients.
The overwhelming support and honour he received during the installation ceremony came as no surprise. Bashir reciprocated the kind gestures from family, friends, and associates by ensuring that his guests were treated to a special reception. This included not only delicious food and drinks but also entertainment.
The reception, filled with lots of interesting activities, was officially kicked off with the grand entrance of the new Mogaji, Alhaji Bashir Akande flanked by his adorable wife, Alhaja Omolara Ramat Akande.
Hon. Iyabode Lawal afterwards chanted the Akande family (oriki) eulogy to the amazement of the guests. The reception however reached its climax when Tolu Obey took charge and held the guests spellbound with his electrifying performance. It was fun all through. The party ran till very late in the night with a DJ who performed for the after-party.
Noticeable during the installation ceremony was the great support from Mogaji Bashir Akande’s siblings, Alhaja Sekinat and Taofeek Akande.
The Akande family, led by the head of the family, Chief Niyi Akande also stood solidly behind the brand new chief. So also was Mrs. Tolulope Akande, the wife of the late business magnate and the Agbaoye of Ibadanland, Chief Harry Akande. She was a fulcrum point of support through the installation ceremony.
