In a bid to lessen untoward hardship greeted by removal of fuel subsidy in the country on his people, the Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, on Wednesday 23rd of August, 2023 distributed packs of food items to 10,000 beneficiaries.
It was a smooth distribution which was held at the council secretariat in Oshodi. The venue was flocked by grassroots people who needed the palliative most. They trooped out in their large numbers to benefit in the goodies. Each beneficiary was given a food pack which has items like; rice, garri, vegetable oil, yam, plantain, spaghetti, and others in them.
People with special needs and some elders were also singled out from the large crowd as they were given preferential treatment due to their condition.
Speaking about the initiative’s motivation, Otunba Oloyede disclosed that the palliatives were his means of easing the suffering Oshodi residents were experiencing as a result of the economic crisis the country is currently experiencing.
While urging Nigerians to cling onto hope and trust the administration of President Bola Tinubu to take more drastic measures so that the country may overcome its current issues, he disclosed that more palliatives are on the horizon.
Local government employees were included in the massive palliative measure as the chairman assured them of providing financial incentives to ease the hardship faced every day they come to their offices.
The generosity was also enjoyed by the students and learners of Oshodi/Isolo local government. Children in primary schools will receive new welcome back packs from the local government chairman when classes resume for the new academic year next month.
It could be recalled Otunba Oloyede had been reaching out to senior secondary students who took the just completed writing General Certificate of Education Examination. 400 GCE forms were purchased and given out for less privilege among them providing them with the opportunity to write the external examination.
