There are words that become part of our daily routines – you may have heard them on the internet, on the streets, or most probably: on Netflix. Where they come from doesn’t matter for too long, though, and you soon even forget that they’re not actually real words.
But, as of 5 days ago, Oxford Dictionaries officially added 300 new words to their online dictionary, including some that you might be pretty happy about.
YAS
That’s right, you can fully rejoice in your own words knowing that “yas” is now a word recognized by the dictionary.
Drunk text
As most would tend to fear the inevitable phenomenon that plagues us into the late hours of the night, finally Oxford recognizes the need to define the source of all of our most embarrassing moments in proper, academic terms.
Squad Goals
Congrats if your squad is looking as good as this one. The expression that took over the internet and finally gave your good-looking BFFs a name is now legit. Good luck on fitting that one into your next academic report.
Biatch
It’s not what you think – Oxford is, in fact, encouraging you to spread the love, as it adds the endearing insult to the dictionary, its “Americanized” spelling implying affection. Although it was only added 5 days ago, the word actually originates in the 1980s. And all the cool kids are still using it.
