Fresh facts have emerged as to why Pastor E.O Adeboye had to step down as the G O of Redeemed Church in Nigeria. Reports from the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God indicates that the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor E.A Adeboye had to step aside as the head of the Church in Nigeria in accordance with the new FG Policy.
There are new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs.
The regulation stipulates that heads of non-profit organisations like churches now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organisations while in retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to their families.
He has appointed Pastor J.O. Obayemi as the head of the church in Nigeria. Obayemi until his appointment was in charge of Finance for the church. Obayemi is expected to be assisted by Pastor Odesola who is another senior hand. Odesola comes in as the National Secretary of the Church. There are speculations that new heads may be appointed for other continents too.
Presently Redeemed Church is powerfully represented in Europe, America as well as Asia, apart from Africa.
It is believed that Adeboye would still hold some form of control over the church worldwide as the position which had just been created only delegated part of his authority as head of the church In Nigeria to the newly appointed General Overseer.
Adeboye, who is in his seventies is believed to be under immense pressure to shed some his responsibilities given his age and availability of capable hands.
