  • How Over 10,000 Women Stormed Redemption Camp

The noise was loud. And the multitude was alarming, as thousands of redeemed members and other guests from all walks of lives who love the Adeboyes gathered under the power of anointing of God to celebrate the beautiful life of Pastor Foluke Adeboye, the pretty wife of Redeemed Church GO, Pastor Enoch Adeboye who turned 70 in grand style.

It was a celebration that was full of activities. Many provinces, regions across the continent had been celebrating the mother in Israel for the past 4 weeks. The Lagos event kickstarted with a Monthly thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Headquarters, Ebute Metta on Sunday 8th, July and it was attended by the Adeboye family and Senator Remi Tiniubu who officiated the cake cutting, then the train moved to Redemption Camp on Wednesday 11th for a Service of 70 hymns which lasted for many hours with over 10,000 women in attendance. The climax of the event was when important personalities and top clergy men were treated to a classy ceremony at the Youth Centre, Redeemed Church of God, Redemption Camp on Friday 13th which was the day she clocked 70.The theme of the birthday tagged “Endless Praise- MGO @70” saw the presence of the no 2 man in Nigeria, Vice President, Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, former President ,Olusegun Obasanjo wife, Chief Mrs Bola Obasanjo and many others.

VP Osinbajo delivered the sermon for the iconic platinum jubilee birthday. Praising the wife of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)’s General Overseer, Pastor Folu Adeboye on her 70th birthday, President Muhammadu Buhari, said the cleric’s achievements transcend mere pulpit preaching and are evident in real, spiritual services to God. As ‘Mummy GO’ counts her blessings, the President prays that the Almighty God will yet add to her years, and grant her good health and strength to keep living a life of service to God and humanity.” Mama Adeboye’s 70th birthday meant a lot to her, she was dressed in a lovely powdered blue expensive voile lace matched with also oke headgear and she poured her innermost heart out with tears of joy at the night of praise organised by women .The night of praise, prayers, dance and worship at the Redemption Camp was organised by The Kingdom Women (a fellowship for Women who live on the Redemption Camp) and they hosted a “Service of 70 Hymns” in Commemoration of the 70th Birthday of Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, Wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God. Mummy GO as she is fondly called expressed deep gratitude to God and to the women for the service, describing the day as ‘the best day she has ever spent on the camp ground’.

She recounted the days of little beginnings when they relocated to the Camp on October 1, 1985 and it was just a forest. What started as a Bible study with herself and four other women who were wives of the carpenters and bricklayers that worked and resided in the camp has blossomed into a mighty army of women. Amidst tears she said “…and I want you to know that you have made my years. All my 70 years of living. I don’t know women of this number can gather together and sing (to God for me)…”

She encouraged the women according to the instruction in Leviticus 6:12: ‘Every morning, put the firewood of praise on the altar of thanksgiving and praises, joy and peace will never depart from your homes’.

To start with, I want to honor the Almighty God, if all my hears were tongues it is not enough to thank God. This is only best day I have ever spent on this camp ground. The best day I have spent in redemption camp. Join me to honor God. I want to thank Him for everything. When we came to the camp in year 1985, Oct 1st it was only God, our little family, carpenters, brick layers and their wives and every Wednesday coming from the night vigil in the morning from the headquarters I would branch at the camp to hold Bible study for women in the camp before I enter into the house and just five (5) of us, the carpenter and brick layers’ wives together with men of God. God used us to establish most of the churches around the camp ground And when God was building the camp, when many of you came in, God gave me the name for you, Kingdom Women because I know we are going to the kingdom. The reason why I am appreciative of you all is because the thought of celebrating me with Service of Song of 70 hymns is over whelming, I have never seen it happen before. It has never happened before. This is a landmark today, recorded in heaven and blessings will surely come back. There is power in songs. Brethren, I want you to know that you have made my years out of my 70 years of living. I don’t know  women of this number can gather together and sing. The only advice I have for you is every morning when you wake up put the fire wood of praises on the altar of thanksgiving , I can’t thank all the organizers enough and everyone that has participated from all churches nationwide, I want to say thank you, you are my glory starting from five (5) women to thousands of women. Thank you all.
