by Gbolahan Adetayo

Multitalented actor, Ayo Olaiya,  is coming out with a bang. The versatile actor recently completed the shooting of his new movie, where he played multiple roles. It is “Eyan-kan” billed to be released soon. In the movie, Ayo played five roles, a feat that stands him out as a super star. While this may not be uncommon in movies coming out of Hollywood in the US perhaps the first in the Nollywood. Yoruba Movie Gist, however, spoke with the actor on why he multitasked himself in the movie and the talented superstar said that the wanted to be a pacesetter in the industry. “If you really want to be unique in life, you must ready to think differently.

What others do, do it better. Hollywood Eddie Murphy played five roles in a movie, “Coming to America” Ayo Olaiya equally played five roles in a movie. But 1 cast movie. Can you see the difference? The task was not really easy,  but I thank God for the successful completion of work on the movie. The movie was actually about discouragement, greed and too much love for money. It also underlines the popular saying: “Money is the root of all evil “.  It emphasised  the need for loyalty among friends.

When  further asked  about his recent auto accident that almost claimed his sight, Ayo responded, “my auto accident story was very horrible. I was coming from a movie location at Agbado crossing area of Lagos state. I was going for another production meeting at Agege and suddenly, a motorcycle rider crossed my car recklessly. In an attempt to avert a head-on collision with the motorcyclist and save his life, I swerved my car off the road and accidentally rammed into an electric poll beside the road. The impact of the smash was devastating.  Immediately, I lost consciousness, only to wake up on the hospital bed after some hours.  I thank God I’m alive today with my two eyes sightful because the accident nearly  made me blind.

I was later told by a good Samaritan  who took me to  hospital with the help of the producer of the movie I was actually going to hold a meeting with that they  immediately took me to the hospital.

I can’t really remember the name of the hospital I was taken to because I was unconscious. All that matters to me then was my sight. I spent just 3days at the hospital and the accident only affected my face. My sight regained strength and I can see clearly now”, Olaiya exulted.
