Playmates Royale Club, PRC, a social club established to empower the youths and build the community, launched its first phase on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at prestigious Ashland Global Apartment, Ikeja. The organization aimed to build on the ideas of mates and patrons, with the grip understanding of their immediate community through capacity building, safety and environment awareness, youth development, and sports program.
The principal office holders were also officially sworn In, in the presence of barrister Sophra Olowoopejo. The members board of trustees include Olatubosun Awonuga (Chiarman Board Of Trustee), Dan Igoni (secretary of the BoT), Tijani Kamal (Member), and Oyeyinka Adeoye (Member)
Members of Executive are: Kayode Taiwo (President), Abayomi Badmus (Vice President), Femi Odusolu (Secretary-General), and Nosa Omoregie ( Social Secretary/PRO). Other executive members include; Femi Adedeji, and Abayomi Bakare.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the event, Shina Badaru highlighted the need for structured interventions to address the peculiar challenges that out-of-school youths particularly those residing in the poorest and most marginalized communities in Lagos contend with, stating that, “No boy or girl deserves to be left out of school; no not in today’s Nigeria.”
He also took time to appreciate the mother of the Club’s Chairman, Alhaja F. Ayoka Awonuga, who has always accommodated the mates over the past 30 years, and assured that he will be part of the organization to support morally and financially.
Mate Nosa, the social secretary provided the attendees with a background and overview of the club, stating that while PRC focused on empowerment through business skills, PRC would focus also on improving the literacy and numeracy of out-of-school persons as well as provide education on their reproductive and mental health.
In his keynote address, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Olatubosun Awonuga in his remark, stressed the importance of providing education to the multitudes of out-of-school youths in Lagos and stated that the Lagos State Government was committed to partnerships on education. He promised that the government would support the successful implementation of PRC by ensuring that the destitute receive their training in the required learning environment.
The launch event also provided an opportunity to showcase the work products of young women who participated in PRC clean-up exercise in Igbobi, Sabe, Jibowu, Lagos.
A Slideshow of Mama Ayoka Awonuga’s interview was also shown for the guest’s pleasure and gratitude.
Guests were treated to a Buffet and drinks were in surplus supply.
Other distinguished guests in attendance included Mrs. Sophra Olowoopejo, Mr. Frank Udengba, Mr Hammed Olowoopejo, Adeyemi Adenuga, Mike Omoruyi, and other important guests.
