Popular Businessman, Tolados Honoured In Sagamu, Installed Babalaje Of Makun Sagamu

Saturday  10th December, marked a significant  day and the beginning of an era  in the history of Makun  , Shagamu  in Ogun state.

Chief Adetola Dosunmu chairman Tolados Ventures Nigeria limited  and President  of Prowpman Association of Ogun State was  installed,  as the Babalaje of Makun town, Sagamu.

The installation and iwuye ceremony  which kick started at exactly 6:30 am  at the residence of Chief Adetola Dosunmu  witnessed the gathering of important personalities who had come from far and wide  to felicitate with the latest man to be conferred with the Babalaje  of Makun  chieftaincy title.

 The second point of call was the  palace of Ewusi  of Makun, Sagamu, His Royal Highness Oba Timothy Oyesola Akinsanya,  there the first chieftaincy rite was  carried out behind close doors. Soon after, the main auditorium inside Oba  Ewusi of Makun  palace witnessed the convergence  of  notable chiefs in Ogun State numbering about 15 , while some traditional rulers also graced the occasion for the performance of the second traditional and chieftaincy rite. After the rite have been performed Chief Samson Akintola  Dosunmu was conferred officially as the Babalaje of Makun , Sagamu amidst pomp and loud ovation.

 Furthermore, the two wives of Chief Adetola Dosunmu  were conferred with the yeye Babalaje title,  Wife no 1  Mrs Dosunmu Iyabo  was conferred with the  yeye babalaje 1 of Makun  while the second wife Mrs Justina Adefunke Dosunmu  was installed as  yeye Babalaje II of Makun town  Sagamu.   According to the tradition of Sagamu, the newest Babalaje of Makun in company of wives were made to trek from the Ewusi’s palace to his house  a journey which spanned about  10 kilometres.

 A grand reception was held  in an open field at  Tolados industrial Estate Sagamu-Benin Expressway, Toll-gate , Sagamu, Ogun state. Fuji maestro Sefiu Alao popularly known as (Omo oko) was on ground to dish out quality fuji lyrics to the delight of invited guests.  Also, popular  Yoruba movie actor and comedian Bolaji Amusan alias Baba Latin  was the Master of Ceremony. The event enjoyed massive media coverage as many television stations across the length and breadth of Nigeria came to cover the event.

 Addressing pressmen, Chief Dosunmu expressed gratitude to God for making the day a reality, ‘’ I am very happy that a day like this came in my life time, I will spend my time in office to promote the trade aspect for the growth and upliftment  of the community’’ he said. Meanwhile the two wives Yeye Babalaje 1 and 2 also expressed their happiness for being conferred with the Yeye Babalaje titles , they promised to give their husband a good support.

The newest Babalaje of Makun  has numerous achievements and awards to his names, he is an awardee of Nigeria Associationof Social Workers in Ogun state 2016, he bagged an icon  of entrepreneurship award also in 2016, he was awarded the most inspiring leader in 2016 by Lisabi descendants , he was named the  ambassador  of Humanitarian service by JCI International. He is also a golden awardee of national association of Nigerian Students, he has been made the life patron of Sagamu youth congress.

Chief Samson  Adetola  Dosunmu was born on the 25th of May 1969 to  the Dosunmu’s  of Abeokuta . He attended  St. Paul primary School, Ijoku , before he proceeded  to Remo Secondary School for his secondary education. He has risen to high positions in many fields,  he became the chairman of  NURTW Sagamu section,he also delved into tree planting and felling. He is also an importer and exporter of legal goods item.The Babalaje of Makun  belongs to many social clubs among which is the Abeokuta  social club.

The Babalaje title holder will oversee and administer  all the trade  and transactions taking place  within his  immediate community. Chief Samson Adetola Dosunmu has been bestowed with the powers to  control and administer  all  trade and transactions taking place inside Makun and Sagamu  area of Ogun State.  The Babalaje  office  does not have tenure  limitations, the holder hangs on to power as long as he lives.
