For LAGOS Governorship In 2027
Will Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, accept to run for the governorship of Lagos, come 2027? That is the big question right now on the lips of many political analysts across the country who see a bright chance for him, if he chooses to run.
Over the last few months many individuals and groups have come out to publicly call on him to run. Also in the last few months, there have been so much talk in the Media about the possibility of Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son to come out and test his popularity.
This is because many groups and associations have been calling on him to run because of his philanthropic gestures years before his dad came to office in 2023.
In the last 3 years, Seyi Tinubu has been moving from state-to-state, touching lives and empowering a lot of young people. His focus all along has been on the Youths.
He sits atop a formidable political network of Youths across the 36 states.
And he has been moving systematically from one state to another, encouraging and empowering the Youth.
That explains why he has a huge followership, made up of many young people.
Whenever the need arises in terms of help, he is always quick to move in and help.
He has a strong base in the North. Barely 6 months after he donated relief materials worth N500 million to victims of the September 2024 flood disaster in Maiduguri, Seyi Tinubu recently donated another palliative worth N100 million and it has been distributed to about 6 tertiary institutions affected by devastating floods.
Flagging off the distribution of thousands of bags of rice, salt, cartons of Spaghetti, Maggi, sets of wrappers, blankets vegetable oil among other things, Seyi said the gesture was to cushion the hardship faced by students in the affected schools.
Seyi has been a committed leader for Youth Empowerment and since his father came to power he has keyed into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration. Seyi says his doors are always open to Youths in giving them hope.
The exercise was carried out in conjuction with Noella Foundation, founded in 2018 by Layal Tinubu and her husband, Seyi Tinubu.
It was Engr. Isaac David Balami, a former Deputy Campaign Manager for the Obi/Dalti 2023 presidential campaign that sparked off the controversy a few days ago when he argued that Seyi should run for governorship. He says Seyi’s track record speaks for itself, citing Seyi’s numerous personal achievements outside of his fathers political influence. He also mentioned Seyi’s generosity, leadership qualities and ability to bridge ethnic and political divides. Balami insists that Seyi Tinubu should be judged on his individual merits rather than his lineage”. “He is like his father. He doesn’t care whether you are a Fulani, Hausa or Igbo. He believes in empowering people…
Should he choose to run, I will move out with my army of youth.”
Apart from him, a pro-democracy group called Alliance for Better Nigeria (ABN) has hailed Seyi over his recent appointment of a seasoned activist/welfarist, Yinka Dallaz as the Chairman of his empowerment initiatives.
The Co-ordinator of the group, Gbolahan Osipitan revealed Seyi Tinubu’s efforts to put smiles on the faces of people is deserving of recognition. He disclosed that the group having carefully followed the exploits of Seyi Tinubu in the last 2 years, in terms of Youth Empowerment across Nigeria and humanitarian intervention to victims of natural disaster. It is only apt and wise to encourage him”, he says.
Seyi is ably supported by his pretty wife, who he describes as an amazing wife and mother. “She is also a Phenomenal Philantropist. She is the co-founder of @nella.foundation and totstoys organisations which are making a lasting impact in various spheres.
Seyi revealed that his wife is an essential partner. “She plays a vital role in shaping a brighter future for the community. “Her unwavering commitment to philantrophy, motherhood, and partnership makes her a true inspiration to many. Over the years, Seyi has been liaising with a lot of state governors from Kano to Borno, to Lagos, Ekiti, Kwara, Ogun, Imo, etc on how to engage the Youths.
He keeps saying “the Youths of Nigeria represent the country’s most valuable resource, and harnessing their potential is crucial to achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda”.
“Thank God, our President is prioritizing the empowerment of our youths to drive economic growth, foster innovation and build a prosperous future.”
Since his father came to power, he has led the Youths to meet with Mr. President. In July 2023, he led Youth Leaders to the Villa to meet Mr. President and the President promised the formation of the Youth Advisory Council.
Many didn’t know that he played an active part in his fathers campaign in 2023. He went round the South-West and had dialogues with Youths for the Tinubu/Shettima campaign.
He visited Osun State, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo Ekiti and the reception was not only mind-blowing, it was also extremely emotional for him,” he said. He began his dialogue with the Youths across each South-West state in Ekiti on 14th February, 2023.
As far back as 14th January, 2023, he visited the historic city of Maiduguri in Borno State to join Amir Shettima, members of the Youth Mandate Group and other young Nigerians in Borno State to continue his Medical Outreach which he began in FCT. He visited other states across Nigeria.
He donated an Ambulance, drugs and medical supplies to state Specialist Hospital in Borno.
Seyi Tinubu went round the hospital to purchase medications for those who couldn’t afford it. He visited His Eminence, Shelm Abubakah Umar Garbu to congratulate him on the wedding ceremony of his child.
Unknown to many, he contributed to the his dad’s victory.
He has been part of the planning and execution since.
