Can you believe it that in just one week, in the month of January, 2017 three Very Important Personalities -VIPs died in one fell swoop. The death of a former member of Rivers state House of Assembly and former Chairman of Oyigbo Local Governemnt Area Honourable Precious Oforji died. This was followed by the death of Rivers state Commissioner of Police Francis Mbololaji Odesanya who died in far away India at the age of 56 years. Thirdly the death of a front line politician Christopher Pere Ajuwa also was received and Port Harcourt city was thrown into mourning of high magnitude as sympathisers were moving from one bereaved family house to another including the sitting Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who visited the Late Chief Honourable Precious Offorji condoling his two sons and wife at their family coutry home in Oyigbo Rivers state.
A close look about how Rivers State Commissioner of Police late Francis Mobolaji Odesanya died in India where he went to get Kidney infection treatment is quite shocking. The Commissioner of Police who hailed from Ikenne town of Ogun state first arrived Rivers State as Deputy Commissioner of Police Department of Operations where he was in charge of Finance and Administration. And on July 20th, 2016 he was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police and was posted to Rivers State where he assumed duties immediately. It was report that on emonth to his death he was on Sick leave as he was admitted in Indian STERLING hospital Ahmedab-Gujarat where he died on 31st of January, 2017.
For Chief Christopher Pere Ajuwa his death was also received with shock as Bayelsa State born politician and astute businessman was well know with his ambition to be elected President of Federal Republic of Nigeria starting from 1992 when National Republican Convention held their Presidential Primary election in the National Convention at Port Harcourt where he was forced to step down for Alhaji Bashiru Torfa who later became the flag Bearer of NRC with Social Democratic Party -SDP presidential candidate Alhaji MKO Abiola contested in the June 12, 1993 Presidential election that was cancelled. He was Chairman of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce , Industries, Mines and Agriculture–PHACCIMA. In 2003 and 2011 Chief Pere Ajuwa as he was popularly called participated actively in the presidential elections where he changed political parties in other to pick presidential tickets.
