At the early stage of her career, late Nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya was already registering her name and face in the minds of movie lovers but she was restricted with only TV weekly series. Thereafter, Yorubamoviegist.com gathered that the queen of drama was discovered by a popular actor cum producer, Laide Olabanji who brought her into Yoruba movie genre of Nollywood many years back.
In an interview Laide granted Yorubamoviegist.com sometimes ago, he narrated how the journey of the actress started in the Yoruba movie industry.
According to him, “Moji Olaiya was into soap operas and when I saw her, I felt she can do better in Yoruba movies and that was why I invited her to my location at Dayo Adeaye’s house in Ajegunle, Lagos.
It was tough then because Fathia Balogun was also not known but she has been appearing on screen, but this almost generated controversy between the 2 of them. The role was very romantic and I believed she won’t be able to do it better because Saidi Balogun was also at the location and I also, know that she won’t do it the way I am supposed to do it because of her husband, so the cast like Clarion Chukwura and Dele Odule supported me and that was how we used Moji Olaiya”.
It will also interest you to know that, the same man, Laide Olabanji of LaiBan Films also brought the likes of Lola Alao and Mercy Aigbe into acting, particularly Yoruba movies.
