Pretty Priscilla Ojo is one of the most popular celebrity kids in Nigeria with close to 1 million followers on Instagram. She started her career as an actress but had to relax to concentrate on her studies. She has featured in lots of skits by celebrities and featured in different musical videos. She is currently the brand ambassador of 3 reputable brands in Nigeria and also runs her clothing brand Priscycloset on the Island.
In this interview with City People’s Senior Showbiz Reporter, BIODUN ALAO, she talked about how her mum has helped her to nurture and manage her celebrity lifestyle she never planned for, the true story behind her relationship with Korede Bello and her plans for the entertainment industry.
How do you feel about your mum’s house warming party?
I feel very excited and seeing all these wonderful people around to celebrate with us also makes me happy.
How would you describe your mum considering you share a very strong bond with her?
I will describe her as a very great and strong woman, loving, caring and very understanding. She is actually a one in a million and on this special day, I wish her greater things ahead because she is extremely hardworking and she deserves every good thing of life.
How do you feel being a celebrity on your own?
It’s something I never planned for but it just happened. I started acting at a very tender age but had to stop to concentrate on my studies, but I discovered that with the little I was doing, like skits and featuring in few videos, I started getting endorsement deals and through the help of my mother, I have been able to manage everything. So, I was just living my life, never planned for all these to happen. Sometimes, I get pissed with things, but my mum is always there to advise me and help me manage everything, so it won’t affect my studies.
Do you have plans of going back into acting fully, since you started up with acting?
Yes, I have plans of going back into acting, I only stopped to finish with my school. Once I am done, I will be going back into the industry fully. My mum is a perfectionist, she believes whatever you want to do, it has to be done well and she doesn’t want me to have a divided attention, so she advised I finish up with school first.
Beside acting, is there any other thing you are looking at?
Yes, fashion, I already have my brand so I will also concentrate more on that. Then I am looking at makeup too, I will do that as well.
You have been linked up with Korede Bello severally, can you use this opportunity to clear the air concerning that?
Korede Bello is my friend, he is a very nice person and I have featured in his video too and since then we have remained friends. It is normal for people to speculate things once they see people together but that won’t stop me from being friends with people. So, he is my friend and a very great person.
Do you see yourself going higher than your mum in the movie industry?
That is every mother’s dream actually, so, yes, she is good at what she does and very famous but in all I hope to be more famous than her, I will work extra and make sure I make her proud.
Your mother looks very hot and sexy in her 40’s, that most people mistake her for a sweet 16, do you hope to have such a look at 40?
(Laughs!!!) I will look hotter than her at 40 because it is in our gene and my own won’t be anything different.
Can you tell us about the business you are working on?
Presently, I have Priscy Closet where I sell clothes, I am a brand ambassador for Cassie’s hair, hair brand, Hegai and Esther and sunglasses and more and then I am equally working on my make-up brand too.
So how do you still combine all these with your schooling?
My mum is my strong support statement, she has always been supporting and advising me on how to balance everything. So, I put everything on a scale of preference, so no one will suffer at the end of the day. I also have a manager who helps me with everything.
How do you feel being one of the most followed celebrity kids on Instagram with close to a million followers?
I am super grateful, it is not my doing. I feel a lot of mum’s followers are also following, but on my own, I try as much as possible to be active. You know I am also a brand influenceR so my activity on Instagram has also made lots of brands come to me to influence for them.
Have you ever regretted being this famous?
Though, I am grateful for everything because it is God’s doing but at the same time, I really get upset at times because some times, I need my privacy and wouldn’t even want anybody to bother me but I won’t get what I want. So, being famous has both its advantage and disadvantage, so to some extent, once in a while I don’t like it.
So, how does it make you feel being one of the most famous celebrity kids in Nigeria?
It makes me feel good and humble at the same time. I don’t let that get into my head because my mum has taught us to be very grateful and humble in everything.
You are also very stylish, where did you get that from?
My mum is very stylish, so I always look up to her and learn fashion tips from her. You can’t be Iyabo Ojo’s daughter and not know how to dress when you are living with the queen of style herself.
