•To Mark 10th Anniversary
It was a gathering of many big players in the real estate sector in Lagos, last Tuesday, 20th December, 2022, as a leading real estate company called Ridgewell Construction Company Ltd. unveiled its new headquarters in Lekki Phase 1. It was a 2-in-1 event as it marked not only the opening of its impressive headquarters, it was also in celebration of its 10th Anniversary.
The Management and Staff of the company led by its MD/CEO, Tunde Surakat held a Praise and Worship session and offered Thanksgiving to God Almighty.
The impressive headquarters is located at 40, Chris Madueke Drive, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The event which was held within the premises of its new headquarters in Lekki was classy. It was put together by Zapphaire Event, and Decorbyfurtullah was the Decorator. Both companies did a good job. Celebrazioni Catering was in change of food and drinks. As for Music, Laolu Gbenga thrilled guests with soul lifting Xtian songs and popular Saxophonist, Beejaysax also entertained guests for hours on end.
The event started around 10:14 am with the MC, Tee A asking guests to thank the lord for his Grace and blessings over Babatunde Surakat, the Managing Director, Management, and staff of Ridgewell. Praise and Worship followed the Opening prayer. After that, the M.c. called on Mrs. Temitope Surakat, the MD’s wife who is staff #2 at Ridgewell for her Welcome address. She said what the guests were witnessing that evening was the Lord’s doing. “Imagine 10 years of hard work and dedication. God has been amazing to us. I think everybody here has been part of our story. Your part of our story and I’m very thankful for every one of you. I’m thankful to Ridgewell staff. You guys work tirelessly, God bless you all, God continue to bless you always, and we will continue to celebrate together, this is only just the beginning,” she said.
This was followed by calling Pastor Paul Adefarasin, of House On The Rock Church, who is the spiritual father of the house to give his speech. He was ably represented by Pastor Dele Ajisebutu. After that, it was the speech of the chairman of the group, Prince Olusegun Oniru. He extolled the virtues of Babatunde Surakat and said: “with all honesty, everything that Mr. Babatunde Surakat touches usually, turns to Gold.
“Various projects that we have worked on in Oniru Estate, before completion, it’s all sold out and he will come to me, ‘where is the next project? and I will tell him, don’t worry, once we have done with this, we would move on to the next one. So what I will say about him and many of us here is that the sky is the limit, because by the grace of almighty God, we are now slowly but surely moving to the big one at Eko Atlantic city. So we are no more on four levels, five levels, we now heading to 30 and 40 levels building,” Oniru said.
In the course of the event, the MD, his wife, and the group chairman were asked to come forward for the cutting of the cake and followed by the official opening of the group headquarters by the Chairman and a plaque imprinted with his name and at the entrance of the building. Some awards were given to some members and staff of the company.
Finally, the MD gave his closing remark by saying that he is thanking everyone present and also all thanked God. “My chairman, thank you so much. You’ve all been our backbone. As I will say, it’s just the beginning of our lives. I don’t know about anybody but I’m a work in progress. There’s a word my pastor once said to me, ‘first, you need to have a vision and leave the rest, provision will come afterward.’ So what we have at the moment is the Vision. I will like to say thank you to my team, the Ridgewell team, without the engine in a car, the car isn’t going to move, thank you all for tolerating me, so I say a very big thank you to all of you.
“Thank you to my friends, if I start naming everyone is going to take hours. Thank you to my dad, Dr. Felix Obada, and thank you Erelu Olusola Obaru. I say thank you to my sister, Sola, and her husband Ben, by the grace of God, one of my favourite verses in the Bible is the story of Samuel Peter, the fisherman. God said to him, all you have to do is mend your boat and fix your net, which is all we are doing at the moment because I’m sure we have not seen the best, this is just the beginning.
According to him, what the company is doing, is like increasing the capacity for God’s blessings. “I promise to you in the next 10, 20, 30, and 40 years. We are not taking over Nigeria, we are talking about Africa. We talk about Europe. We are talking about America. Just like my chairman said, this year, next year, we start our projects from Eko Atlantic, and we move to Ghana, Senegal, and America. So I thank you so much and I appreciate it,” the MD said.
The event ended by 1:43pm as the ground was opened for dancing. Ridgewell Construction Company and its staff will always remember 20th December 2022 as the day the company set a mark for greatness with the opening of its headquarters.
