There is no time you will talk abiout Rivers State politics without mentioning the name of the former Governor of the state, Dr. Peter Odili.
Since, the current Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, took over the realms of leadership, Doctor Odili, has been a big source of support to the younger man, advising him whem and where it is necessary like a big brother. And letting him know that it is better to be focused on how to bring good governance to the people than allow the mucky water of the state politics to swallow him.

The former Rivers State First Lady and wife of Dr. Peter Odili, being an erudite Juror who last sat as Supreme Court Judge and Chairman of Body of Benchers, is currently the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of The Governing Council of Rivers State University Nkpolu Orowurokwo, Port Harcourt. Governor Fubara who is currently distributing key infrastructural projects across major senatorial districts in the state, is aiming at his 2027 re-election Governor Fubara has realised that to score political points with the citing of infrastructural projects, he needs to concentrate more in Port Harcourt, the state capital and the adjoining local government areas.
Dr. Odili’s first daughter Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, is the current Commissioner for Health and she is doing well to enhance Gov. Fubara’s administration.

The senator who represented Rivets South East at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Lee Meaba is a strong supporter of Rivers State Governor Fubara. He hails from Ogoni ethnic nationality and commands strong Political influence that made former Governor Nyesom Wike a respected political leader in the People’s Democratic Party PDP. He was a member of the 2023 Alhaji Atiku Abubakar presidential Organization in Rivers State.

He is one Rivers state born politician who commands respect and strong followership across the 3 senatorial zones of Rivers West, Rivets East and Rivers South East Districts. For Barrister Celestine Omehia to devote his time and energy in being involved in the affairs of governor Siminalayi Fubara administration, means that the governor knows what he is doing and has the support of well meaning sons and daugthers of the state.

She is not new to the political terrain in Rivers State as she had sometimes aspired to represent her Opobo/ Nkoro constituency at the Rivers State House of Assembly. She later got appointed as a Commissioner in Rivets State Civil Service Commission during former Gov. Wike’s administration.
Today, she is the founder of Rivers Women Unite for SIM—RWUS, s prayer and worship women organisation spread across the 319 wards and 23 Local Government Areas in Rivers State. This is a formidable women group that has presence in the 4442 Polling Units of Rivers State. Honourable Chief SOTONYE TOBY-FULTON, is a tough talking female politician who gives no political opposition a chance when issues about women are on the table. She supports Governor Fubara 100 percent.
TONYE BRIGGS ONIYIDE
This is the Founder of Daughters of Nigeria Delta Political Movement, Honourable Tonye Briggs Oniyide was a two term Commissioner for Culture and Tourism during Nyesom Wike’s administration. She quickly reversed her Political loyalty to Gov Siminalayi Fubara immediately the political crisis started.
As a result of her commitment to Gov Fubara’s government, she was rewarded with a Caretaker Committee local Government Council top job. And she later joined Action Peoples Party-App ditching PDP, a party she has been in love with since 1999 to April 2024.
In the October 5th Rivers State Local Government Election, she won the Chairman’s position in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State. That’s how strong the beautiful looking Tonye Briggs Oniyide who got married to a Yoruba Army General now late. She is a strong supporter of Gov Fubara’s administration.

For 8 years, he was the Deputy Governor to Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi from 2007 to 2015. He tried to switch Political loyalty to Wike who allegedly contributed in no small measure in removing his cousin Prince Uche Secondus as National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party. Since the political battle between Wike and GOV Fubara, Engr. Tele IKURU has been standing with Gov. Siminalayi Fubara 100 percent.
ABIYE PRECIOUS SEKIBO
This former Minister of Transportation and Secretary To Rivers State Government SSG, under Dr. Peter Odili, Dr. ABIYE PRECIOUS SEKIBO became Atiku Abubakar 2023 Presidential Organisation Rivers state chapter leader. He later switched his loyalty to Gov Fubara along with his team comprising all members of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization in Rivers State. He is from Okrika ethnic group in Rivers State. He supports Gov. Fubara 100 percent.
AMANYANABO OF GRAND BONNY KINGDOM
His Eminence King Perekunle xi Edward William Asimini Dappa Pepple III, is the Ruler of GRAND BONNY ancient kingdom. He hardly makes open statement on Political matters irrespective of Political party in power. But this time around, an Ibani son of Ijaw ethnic group, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, is the Governor of Rivers State and that makes him grandson of this great King.
NICE ALERUCHI ALAMIEYESEIGHA
Her non governmental organisation, Nice Esther For All Foundation, is currently making waves as regards her humanitarian activities. She was Women Leader in the South South geopolitical zone of the 2023 Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization. Immediately the group collapsed its structure and aligned with Gov Fubara she became a strong supporter of the Rivers state Governor.
High Chief Dr. Mrs. Nice ALERUCHI ALAMIEYESEIGHA is now working with Amber. Hon. Chibuike Ihunwo Chairman of Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area as Senior Special Adviser in Inclusivity, Women empowenment and Female Gender matters.

He is the state chairman of Action Peoples Party APP in Rivers State and one of the founding members of PDP since 1998 to 2023 when he switched camp to Action Peoples Party APP. His political realignment not withstanding, he is a strong supporter of Gov. Fubara.
