Rotary Club of Ewutuntun empowers 20 widows, donates grinding machines

Rotary Club of Ewutuntun, District 9111, successfully hosted its Widows Empowerment Project today, Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 10 am at Fally Gold, 1 Adeyemi Street, Oshodi, Lagos.

 

During the impactful event, 20 widows were empowered with grinding machines designed to provide a sustainable means of livelihood for them and their families.

 

The District Governor, Rtn. Dr. Wole Kukoyi, ably represented by District Executive Secretary, Rtn. Valentine Shomoye commended the initiative and encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the machines effectively.

 

“This empowerment project represents Rotary’s dedication to economic inclusion and sustainable impact. We urge the recipients to maximize this opportunity to improve their financial standing and contribute to the local economy,” he said.

 

The initiative was graced by notable dignitaries, including Prince Samson Aremu, Oso Ade Onikotun, who represented the Oba of Elewu of Ewu Kingdom, HRH Oba Shakirudeen Adesina Kuti; District Treasurer, Rtn. Adetayo Hassan, and Past District Governor Patrick Ikheloa, and Assistant Governor Yomi Owolabi, among others.

 

Chairman of the Widows Empowerment Project, Rtn. Kudirat Ola Opoola highlighted the project’s significance: “This is about more than donations; it’s about giving these women the tools to secure their futures.”

 

Past President Kudirat Ola-Opoola added that, “By supporting these widows today, we are investing in their long-term stability and that of their families.” she noted.

 

President of the Rotary Club of Ewutuntun, Rtn. Bukonla Alamu reiterated the club’s dedication to fostering community growth.

 

Alamu stated that “providing these grinding machines is a step toward economic empowerment, financial independence, and poverty alleviation. It aligns with Rotary’s core mission to create a lasting and meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
