This is big news about former Ogun Speaker, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni-Gomez (MFR). At the AGM of Nigerite last May, she was made the Chairman of that vibrant company. With this appointment, she has become the 1st female chairman of the company. Interestingly, in her career, she has recorded so many firsts, in many ways.
Many don’t know she is a big player in Business. And she is also into Oil. She has investments in •Oylex Petroleum Ltd. • Quants Capital Ltd and •Howell Campbell & Associates.
For those who don’t know her let’s quickly tell you that she is the first female speaker in the entire Southwest geo-political zone of Nigeria. She has other rare qualities that City People found out. She is a self-motivated, result-oriented leader, who is not easily discouraged by novel situations. She has exceptional and effective planning and organizational skills. She has extensive experience in managing and relating with people at various educational and socio-economic levels. She is a task-oriented and decisive leader with an intuitive ability to employ initiative to resolve challenges. She is a dynamic, astute, and committed administrator. All these qualities came into the limelight when she was the Speaker of Ogun State.
She showed that she is highly practiced and competent in public speaking, presentation of information, negotiation and conflict management or resolution.
She has paid her dues in Politics. In 2003, she became a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly. She was elected to the Ogun State House of Assembly, to represent the citizens of the state. Worked across party lines to develop, craft, and pass legislative bills and motions to best serve the Ogun State people.
She was elected and served as Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly for an uninterrupted period of five (5) years.
She created bi-partisan relationships between legislators and government representatives in all arms of the Ogun State government.
She ensured the efficient passage of over 40 bills and 140 motions and resolutions that addressed the empowerment, enfranchisement and socio-economic growth of the citizens of Ogun State.
She chaired the Southwest Speakers Conference where Speakers of the Houses of Assembly from the region caucused and deliberated on issues that affected the region and shared ideas on their advancement of the region.
She balanced the budget annually for five (5) years.
In 2007, she was re-elected to the Ogun State House of Assembly and re-elected Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly for the 2nd term in office, to further direct legislative duties and she served till 2011.
Before going into Politics in 2003, she was Managing Director/CEO of Seven Oak Nigeria Ltd. She managed the computer hardware outfit and its five (5) employees. She staffed and trained the employees for optimal growth of the company.
She maintained the computers and networks, sales, service, and maintenance of computers and created and facilitated employee assessments.
Between 1993 and 1998, she was Managing Director/CEO of Macy’s Fashion Outlet which was into the production and sales of corporate fashion outfits, maintenance of high-value individual wardrobes, stock keeping, wholesale and retail of fashion accessories, organized corporate fashion shows for trendy customers.
Between 1987 and 1993, she was in the US and worked as a Credit Analyst at Ford Motors Credit Company USA, where she appraised and analyzed credit, conducted a risk analysis and management and monitored and ensured the performance of credit.
Between 1985 and 1987, she was a Customer Service Advisor at AT&T USA. She responded to customer complaints, ensured customer satisfaction and loyalty and expanded the company’s customer base.
Her civil and political activities include how she initiated the Forum for Female Parliamentarians in Nigeria sponsored by the British Council and OSIWA for five (5) years.
• Member of the Commonwealth Parliamentarian Association (CPA) which met annually to discuss the effects of globalization and the effects of nation-states’ contributions.
• Member of the PDP National Committee selected to review the Party’s constitution and manifesto.
• Chaired a Law Review Committee set up by the Attorney General of the Federation/Minister of Justice established to examine Nigerian laws and its impacts on women’s rights and amend discriminatory laws against women.
• Acting Chairman of Speakers Conference of Nigeria for two (2) years.
