The evening of Saturday 27th January, 2024 was a day of great significance in the medical field of reproductive health as Support Association for Fibroid Awareness (SAFA) in conjunction with Nordica Fibroid Care Centre and Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) held a-one day webinar on Uterine Fibroids.
The webinar was held on ZOOM platform as the resource persons who are top experts in the field of reproductive health care dealt with the theme “Fibroids: Treatment Options and Quality of Life”.
The event was moderated by MD, Nordica Fertility Centre, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi who also doubled as a speaker and resource person. He had his presentation on Nonsurgical Management of Uterine Fibroids. Also Speaking at the webinar are National President of Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Professor Rosemary Ogu and Lead Gynaecologist for Fibroid Management, North Middlesex University Hospital in London, Dr. Abiodun Fakokunle. They made their presentation on the Impact of Fibroids on the Quality of Life and Surgical Management of Uterine Fibroids respectively.
Each of the 3 sessions held was very instructive as participants got a lot of information as the focus of the lectures delivered.
Support Association for Fibroid Awareness is a foundation committed to raising awareness on fibroids, improvement of women’s health, providing help, counselling and support for women living with fibroids in Nigeria and Africa at large.
The foundation aimed at being a global standard advocacy group for engaging, educating, empowering and effecting change when it comes to fibroid support in Nigeria and by extension the West African region.
Through its initiatives, the foundation places emphasis on the critical importance of early diagnosis and effective intervention while simultaneously providing education to the community of medical professionals as well as their patients and the general public.
The core of their mission is to improve the lives of persons affected by fibroids and work towards a future where it has the least possible impact on those living with the condition amongst other things.
